How bad was that one relative to the Scalia thread? I was tempted to start a Nancy Reagan RIP thread just for the factor.

I never saw anything in the Reagan thread that would cause it to be pulled.

The only thing I saw in the Scalia thread was one person ( I think from California) that resorted to foul language only because someone had a different opinion about politics.

Imagine people differing about politics. The horror. Big Grin

Ditto. I kinda knew people wouldn't be able to contain themselves on the Scalia thread. I can't even imagine what could have happened on the Nancy thread. I mean, ok, yes, I can imagine a lot of things that could have caused that thread to go sideways. But it is just so pathetic if any of those things happened.

There ought to be a law!

A few years ago Lucky Peach magazine had an insert sheet of fruit stickers. I applied them occasionally to my co-workers' fruit in the office fridge.

Hard to read all of them here, but you'll get the gist:

I particularly liked "Suspiciously Foreign Tomato" and "Great with Cigarettes".

It's hard to see past the lips but eventually after you do, I don't like her nose and frankly just don't find in anyway attractive from the neck up. She's not my type facially I guess, no growths (again other than the lips) or anything just not at all my cup of tea.

And yes, I was underselling it, imo

I see what you mean. She looks to me like she's got a young Sofia Loren-thing going.

Even my wife would give me a pass on her, you know, if we met and I was able to seduce her.

No kidding. It is such a crazy election.

I took our dog for over an hour long walk yesterday. Not one single presidential sign in our neighborhood, not ONE! I have lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years. I can walk you through our neighborhood and tell you how so many have voted in the past. There were signs for local elections, but not presidential.

I was talking to bman. I have been looking for bumper stickers also. None thus far other than old Obama stickers.

Which ever way you go it seems most think Nov 8th will be a "hold your nose and pull the lever" kind of day.

About 15 years ago I saw a lady on i95 with a license plate "NO TRUMP" also on the bumper was a decal of a deck of cards.

I wonder what happened to that State issued plate. Also if she still has it.
Please let's end the election discussion in this thread. Robert's Law of Thread Implosion states that when politics surfaces in a thread, there is a 95% chance the thread will eventually be deleted.

If we must, please start a new, disposable thread that no one will miss when it gets popped. I suspect I'm not the only one who's become fond of Mimik's crazy random comment thread.

Much appreciated. Smile

I hate arbitrary demarcations. Instead of the postal code, voting region etc. going down the main street in the area (which physically and really is the change between two neighborhoods) it goes down down the tiny street one street east. And puts me technically 40 feet into a neighborhood that isn't like mine and stretches a few miles west.

And makes my car insurance $400/year more expensive than if I was 40 feet further east.

I loved Stan Boreson when I was a kid! Might be my earliest TV memory.

Our local taxi licensing board decided to implement flat fees into town about a year ago for pickups at the airport. We pay an extra $4 to be brought to our door rather than be dropped off on the street just south of ours. With a bunch of luggage-- and with Vancouver's increasingly frequent rain-- of course we want to be brought as close to our front door as possible, and certainly 4 bucks doesn't change my life at all. But that arbitrary line drawn on the city map just annoys the hell out of me.

Why hasn't the value of an opinion increased from two cents? What about inflation??

The Fed met and lower the rate

He's still around. Lives in Edmonds with his wife. Last I heard, they were still organizing tours to Scandinavia.

Wow! I'm surprised that he's still active. When I was a little kid he seemed to be a lot older than I was, though I guess almost every adult looks old to a little kid.

I just checked Wikipedia; he was born 1925!

Anyway. I finally oppened up the bottle you suggested yesterday (Chateau Bellefont Belcier 2005). Very nice wine. Kept some for day 2 to try with a filet.

I do because you have a sense of humour. I'm glad you liked the Belfont.

Well, I decided to do a blind test doing Belfont versus my cheaper Favorite 2009 Château Côte Montpezat Cuvée Compostelle.

There is a say "better is an enemy of good". I hated the Montpezat. I could single out Belfont just by the nose. The Montpezat was almost blendish in comparison. Maybe it was an off bottle, I don't know. Also, I boticed that Belfont got a bit stronger/harsh on day 2. Still good but I felt that day 1 was smoother. Does that make sense?

I am now waiting to open up my 2005 Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru) to compare to Belfont.

A blind test conducted by yourself? Yeah sure.

Ok, I'll clarify.
My wife poured the wine while I was in the other room. I asked her to make sure that both were approximately same temperature.

In reality it was a no-brainer. The 2005 stood out in color, nose, and finally taste. I was just very surprised how uneventful my $18 recent favorite was compared to the 2005 (still have both bottles waiting for day 3 test with some cheese that I usually pair my Spanish wine with). At the same time, I noticed that on day 2 the Belfont got a bit more harsh, almost not as smooth as day one. Not sure why. On day 1 I poured it into a decanter, kept in it for few minutes and poured it back into the bottle before taking it to the restaurant. Is that what you'd call "Aerated"?

Technically "Ukrainian", however, I immigrated to U.S. at time when USSR was falling apart, 1993, so, I usually say "Former USSR" instead of Russia or Ukraine.

Welcome...
i dont understand the vitriol surrounding such a simple phrase

not my president.

There is a very simple difference between accepting the state of the world vs being proactive and ensuring that while he may be my president, I dont accept alot his policies.

Slavery was common in early america too. If i were a slave, my plantation owner pat, would have been my master but it's rather silly to think that one should just relegate their lives happily being a slave.

So, you were not a fan of obama, did you sit there quietly and "suck it up"? Or did you do the american thing and write to your elected officials, voice your concerns, challenge policies of his that you felt were wrong?

so yes, trump is the president, but he's not my president.
JBurman82,

Thank you...quite a simple point. I did not say that you had to agree with your president...but at the end of the day...he is your president.

Has Trump said some things that made me wince...quite obviously yes. But I am of the opinion the U.S. is going to be better under him than what we could of had.

Just listen to the recent video of the woman who want to head the DNC (Sally B Brown). That is some scary stuff!

G, let's break it down

US Citizen = Trump is your President

The fact that you and I don't like Trump, or Marc didn't like Obama, doesn't take away from the fact that as US Citizens they are our Presidents.

The phrase is "I don't like My President"
