The Kamala Harris problem for the Democrats is that if they do not nominate her, they will anger women voters and Black voters.  If they do nominate her, well, she is tied to Biden, and doesn't seem all that popular.  But, we have time until 2024 don't we?  Maybe inflation will be tamed, gas prices will go down, world peace will be achieved, and climate change will be halted in its tracks. Maybe covid and monkey pox will be in the rear view mirror and the drought in the western US will be ameliorated with consistent off and on showers, not too much to cause mud slides, but enough to fill reservoirs.  Maybe the airlines will cease losing luggage and delaying flights. Maybe people will use guns solely for self-protection and there will no longer be mass shootings.

But, maybe not.

The only Republican who can probably lose the 2024 race is Trump.  The folks who voted against him are probably not going to switch teams and vote for him in the next election.  They were given the choice, and they chose Biden over Trump, many because it was a matter of "anybody but Trump".  I doubt these voters will say "Gee, Trump will do better than Biden if we give him another chance."

If Ron DeSantis runs and Trump does not, I think he's the next President.

Of course, a lot of things can happen between now and November 2024.

Gotta admit I'm loving the reactions from mayors of Democratic-run cities like DC, NYC, Chicago etc. that are receiving bus loads and plane loads of migrants from the border. NYC has received 11000; and Adams said that NYC is at a breaking point.  Bowser in DC declared a state of emergency. No mention of the 2 million that have arrived at our border in the past year, with TX, AZ facing the brunt and expense. So cool that the VP got some today; especially after she said Sunday that the border is 'secure'. I like the idea of spreading the pain around.

2mm is a border encounter, not actually making it into the country.  If you've ever seen 2 million people in a location, you'd know there are no holding pens in this entire country that can house that many people for processing.

These people that are being bussed around the country are legal migrants, those with family members in places like florida, and they're literally being flown back to their families.

This is at best political grandstanding and obviously a huge waste of tax payers monies.

The entire state of this country has devolved into, "for me to get elected it's just easier for me to rile up my base and say the other side sucks"

What would your suggestion be?  Build a wall?  Are you going to start dedicating 100 billion a year to man such wall?  Another waste of tax payers monies.

Regardless in terms of the actual migration numbers, Florida, California, Texas and NY are the four leading states in receiving out of country migrants.  They all have appropriate plans to handle border entry at expected border entry points, shipping 10k migrants to random spots throughout a city unannounced is neither good governance, nor appropriate in expecting any city to handle an unexpected influx of migrants that were processed in a different way by another state.

Also another fun number, Cali, New Jersey, NY, Florida have the largest percentage of foreign born population living in the state, so no, "democrat cities" don't have an issue in handling migrants esp since migrants are more likely to end up in democrat cities anyway.

We are now suffering a labor shortage by increasing magnitude every year.  Our immigration policies have the past 2 decades have only allowed folks with PHDs into the country.  We have an aging workforce population and potentially will soon suffer the likes of Japan/Korea with no young labor work force being able to pick up the starting job slack.  Sounds like a really great way to handle all immigration.

Not surprised, but disappointed, that some here take pleasure in the misery of refugees and other migrants.  My career included interviewing hundreds of refugees from around the world, mostly in Central America but also in Asia and elsewhere.  The migrants are real people on the move because they feel they have no other options, something most of us would do if we were in their situations.  The pain is being felt by them and them alone.

The post above reminds me of something I saw a few years ago, shared below, with the key point in bold:

"The donkey told the tiger, "The grass is blue."

The tiger replied, "No, the grass is green ."

The discussion became heated, and the two decided to submit the issue to arbitration, so they approached the lion.
As they approached the lion on his throne, the donkey started screaming: ′′Your Highness, isn't it true that the grass is blue?"
The lion replied: "If you believe it is true, the grass is blue."
The donkey rushed forward and continued: ′′The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts me and annoys me. Please punish him."
The king then declared: ′′The tiger will be punished with 3 days of silence."
The donkey jumped with joy and went on his way, content and repeating ′′The grass is blue, the grass is blue..."
The tiger asked the lion, "Your Majesty, why have you punished me, after all, the grass is green?"
The lion replied, ′′You've known and seen the grass is green."
The tiger asked, ′′So why do you punish me?"
The lion replied, "That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because it is degrading for a brave, intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with an ass, and on top of that, you came and bothered me with that question just to validate something you already knew was true!"
The biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn't care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. Never waste time on discussions that make no sense. There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand. Others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.
When ignorance screams, intelligence moves on...

Still gotta post the history about it.  This stunt is exactly the same kind of stunt during the civil rights era in the US.  called reverse freedom rides.  The fact that a bunch of boomers and thei proteges are taking the same page the KKK did back in the 50s is not lost on me.

They should charge Desantis and the like with human trafficking

A political stunt during an election year? Who would have thought it? Kind of like declaring yourself a sanctuary city for migrants (NYC, Chicago) or a sanctuary state (MA) and then crying for federal aid when some actually show up. Hypocrisy? the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

I mean nothing you say goes against the point that these are actual people that are being used as a political talking point.  Hypocrisy is saying to care about life but ruin those that are looking for a better one.

And it is quite sad that all you can think about is political talking points

Easier to treat humans badly by labelling them things like illegals and migrants right?

So you miss the point, or decide not to consider it, that the cities/ states involved are SANCTUARY STATES and should WELCOME migrants? Way to change the storyline, but I'm not surprised. Hypocrisy runs deep in both political parties.

Typical Gooner popping off brainlessly without doing any research.  Massachusetts isn’t a sanctuary state, and Martha’s Vineyard is not one of the 8 cities in MA that have proclaimed themselves to be sanctuary cities.

DeathSantis could’ve very easily overpaid the coyote to take the asylum applicants to Boston, but instead he pulled the political stunt of dropping them off in Martha’s Vineyard instead.  While such political theater just makes the entrenched base happy, it does the opposite amongst swing voters/independents.
