Over 350 newspapers giving Trump the middle finger today. Well deserved without debate.

All this attention about Trump and his blatantly obvious racism. Damn, IF this was his only issue!

I would love to hear the conversation over dinner tonight between Kelly and George Conway!

Crazy that people are waiting to hear a tape of 45 saying the N word to confirm what we already know, he's a racist.  Sadly, if such tape comes out, his popularity among his supporters will probably increase.

I don't give a fig about his supporters, Pat.  They're lost causes.  What I do care about is the 42% of our fellow registered voters who couldn't get off their a$$es to vote in 2016 and the remaining sane Republicans like Adm. William McRaven (former Navy Seal and the man who oversaw the raid that took out Bin Laden) who are being energized to confront Cheeto and his cabal.  Great article by McRaven HERE....

PH

When I met McRaven he told this story.  They had killed the guy they thought was Osama bin Laden, but, of course, he didn't carry an ID card.  They knew he was six feet 5 inches tall.  So, they laid out his body on the floor and one of the Seals who was also 6'5" lay down next to him. They were the same length. This confirmed the ID.

The Seals called this in to President Obama.  The President said, "You mean you have millions of dollars of helicopters, missiles, guns, and so forth, and no one thought to bring a tape measure?"  True story.

Cathartic or depressing it would certainly be more interesting and animated once we had a few bottles in us!

More to come!  And should have occurred a while ago.

Why should it have occurred a while ago? I carried my security clearance for years after I retired. I wasn't asked, but others in the same boat were able to be helpful to their successors after they retired,  thanks to their valid security clearances.

bman,

I'll trust you to continue the conversation with this supporter of the orange menace going forward.  I have no use for him or his ilk any longer.

My father kept his clearance for almost a decade after his retirement, and was consulted many times after he left active duty, much to our country's benefit.  He held often contrary beliefs from the mainstream, but was valued for his experience and perspective.  It is a shame that we may lose the value of balanced and independent views in our intelligence  services going forward.

My pop was a Republican and a patriot.  He would be ashamed and enraged about what is going on in our country right now.  My family continues to serve our country, and although I cannot and will not speak for any of them, I know that they are aware of, and involved in supporting the essence of what makes our country great.

As for those of you who support political retaliation for honest and patriotic speech, I can only wish that you could comprehend the sacrifice and pain that has been given to allow you to be so ignorant and obtuse.  If you could, you'd be ashamed.

PH, only those who do not understand what you and I explained above would applaud Trump's removal of security clearances from former senior officials, and then only for partisan political reasons contrary to the country's interests.  Now that we've explained that to him, let's see if Napacat sees and admits his error in this case, given that he's said that he values constructive discussion, or if he stays silent or continues to put Trump's interests ahead of his country's.

And BTW, I was dead serious about that offline I mentioned above!  W+a says you're a fine fellow.  Let's do it!

First...Rand Paul suggested that Brenan’s Security clearance should be pulled...not Trump alone.  Second, the level of decorum in Washington is disgusting on both sides.  Trump gets over 90%+ of negative coverage. Pretty tough for anyone to take this level of criticism.

Trump’s obviously not without faults...but the outrage in my opinion is completely over the top.  I get you may not like him....but it is nowhere near as bad as being portrayed.

Was watching a great discussion tonight on Levin’s show Between him, Tom Coburn and another gentlemen whose name I don’t recall...no shouting or name calling just a nice exchange of thoughts and ideas how to correct our mess!

our current politicians don’t do this or seem to care to resolve our issues.  Just demogouge and pander.  If you watch Clinton, Obama and Schumer talk about illegal immigration a few years ago and now listen today...you see what is wrong with our politicians.

"Real reform means establishing a responsible pathway to earned citizenship -- a path that includes passing a background check, paying taxes and a meaningful penalty, learning English, and going to the back of the line behind the folks trying to come here legally.

And real reform means fixing the legal immigration system to cut waiting periods and attract the highly-skilled entrepreneurs and engineers that will help create jobs and grow our economy.”

vs

"Democrats are the problem. They don’t care about crime and want illegal immigrants, no matter how bad they may be, to pour into and infest our Country, like MS-13. They can’t win on their terrible policies, so they view them as potential voters!"

I'll let you guess which one sounds like an actual plan, and which one shows what's wrong with our politicians nowadays.

Napacat, if you really cannot see the difference between the poisonous words and actions of Trump compared to those of his predecessors, then there probably is no reason in continuing to try to have a constructive conversation with you about him. G-MAN's example above is just one of many that disproves your point.  If you added up all the over-the-top things every President and Senate/House leader before Trump has said, and all their demonstrable lies, it would be a drop in the bucket compared to just what Trump says on a weekly basis.  The man is a disgrace as a politician and a human being

And this morning Trump refers to Mueller by name as "disgraced and discredited".  He has said and done nothing to disgrace or discredit himself, much the opposite in fact, his silence and thoroughness never mind the charges and guilty pleas to date, are all marks of his professionalism.   Nor is he a Democrat nor are those who appointed him or created the investigation or most of those on his team, they are Republicans.  But it serves Trump's purpose to lie about that as about ao much else.  90% of the reporting on him is critical because he deserves it!

90% of coverage.  Says who?  Fox News?  The worst fact checkers on the planet.  I do catch good stuff on BBC, WSJ, CBS on some items.

Just remember a 1000 at-a-boys, can be erased by one aw-$hit.  There have been too many of the latter in the last 18 months.  Can't pi$$ off friends, and embrace enemies.  Can't start trade wars with everyone.   Economy is up since 2009, but the level of living has gone down. Inflation up.

Rand Paul is only a shill for the orange man.  Has never done anything meaningful the time he has been in the Senate.

It's not because we don't like him, it is plainly poor performance, dividing the country, mouthing off on his tweets, and hiring only the best, that are now all being indicted.  Now we have a speech writer that belongs to the Hitler Youth.

Surprised that you can't see the forest for the trees

There is an aspect of the WH's recent communication on the possibility of additional cancellation of security clearances that really needs to be highlighted.  They (incredibly) said that they are likely to hold them and selectively release them "as needed," to serve as distractions in the event of future downturns in the trump news cycle.  This is scary on several levels.

First, the fact that they would use this kind of abuse as a distraction is simply beyond the pale.  Second, if there are legitimate security reasons for these proposed cancellations, they should go into effect immediately.  The lack of immediate action in this regard speaks to the emptiness of the thinking that any of these people pose the slightest risk to our country.
