Was listening to the BBC driving to lunch. They said Trump, known as the useful idiot within Russia was played like a fiddle. The reporter said if you listen closely, you will hear the sound of Champagne corks popping on the Russian plane fling home along with uncontrollable laughter.

Putin has spent his career trying to breakup NATO, create chaos within America, cause Americans to distrust their own intelligence departments, distrust their elected officials, pit one NATO country against other NATO countries. Never did they believe this would be done by an acting American president much less all in one week.

Putin was just able to have Trump tell the entire world that he didn’t trust his own justice department and intelligence department and that Putin was more trustworthy. Putin also managed to have Trump put Russia and Putin himself on the world stage. Russia which has a GDP far less than just the state of Texas alone was just given credibility they have been seeking since their fall on the world stage with a US president smiling and offering support. Russia was also given the green light to continue their interference within both the U.S. and all of Western Europe.

The Senate voted 88-11 (McCain absent) for a useless resolution opposing the Trump tariffs.  Now they can tell their constituents who are being screwed by the tariffs that they voted against them.  Most Democrats and some Republicans opposed the meeting with Putin.

But, the US Senate has no power here.  Trump is an American oligarch.

John Brennan, former CIA Director:

Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of “high crimes & misdemeanors.” It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???

That last question is the most telling.  Mostly nothing from the repubs.  Shameful.

My guess is he fell and hurt himself trying to get up too quickly after watching the press conference with his pants around his ankles.

That was funny, billkike.  Made me blow beer out my nose, but funny!

Only a few forceful condemnations of the quisling-like behavior exhibited by the failed talk show host by repubs.  And EVERY ONE of them are individuals who have announced they are not running for re-election.  All the rest are afraid of trump's base and his fat little thumbs.

Shameful.

Speaking of high crimes and misdemeanors, when he took office, he promised to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution. This was under oath.  On immigration he advocated eliminating judges and due process.  Elimination of due process is not exactly preserving the Constitution.

I know that President Trump is not brain dead.  The brain is what controls walking, body movements, speech.  His brain functions.  It's just the part of the brain that is engaged in thought that is disabled.

At least Napa has had the courage of his convictions to participate in this discussion.  Where are the others who have defended The Orange Menace in the past?  One who posted racist rants against Obama, for example?   Hoping they have seen their champion for what he really is, if not before today, then now.

Based on recent posts, I believe that the poster you reference has been relegated to non-political and tamer territory.  That said, he was more known for anti-O posts vs. pro-T disinformation.

As far as "courage of convictions" are concerned, I call humbug.  Himmler and Goebels had the courage of their convictions too, and they were f.....g wrong as hell from the get-go. Convictions and humanity are different animals.

Just one winos opinion, of course.

I'm not saying that I agree with his convictions, nor am I defending anything he said.  Didn't someone say that while they disagreed with someone's views they defended their right to express them?  But be assured, when it comes to The Orange Menace, I could not agree more with the sentiments you and w + a and the other right-thinking people here have expressed. I'm Canadian, after all!! But he spoke up and engaged, which is more than some others with similar views have done.  So I'm just going to presume that they have now seen the errors of their ways and will vote Democrat now and in the next election.  I'm sure I'm right!

I understand, bman.  And I absolutely support everyone being able to express their opinion openly, as long as it doesn't advocate violence.

My point was more to differentiate between the right or courage to express an opinion, and having an opinion worthy of support.

Keep in mind that napa, when questioned point blank, said that he supported the separation of an infant from his/her parent(s) for the simple reason that the parent committed the misdemeanor of coming to America to seek a better life.  This opinion is as heinous to me as anything ever posted here, and will forever color (colour for you!) my opinion of anything that napa ever writes here again.  Cheers!

Yeah, that comment surprised and upset me too.  Hard to believe there are people with hearts and brains who think that way.

And I appreciate the effort to spell colour as we do!

Dan Coats releases a statement without White House approval today in reaction to Trump telling the world as he stood in Putin’s shadow that he trust the word of a KBG agent over his own intelligence departments universal intel. So, what does the big bad president do? He sends out a tweet that he has great confidence in MY ( caps) intelligence people.

Well, now that fixes everything you spineless and gutless daylily.

Word of the day: Odious...

So, lots of Senators of both parties have condemned in one fashion or another this escapade in Helsinki.  Plus, the Senate voted on a non-binding resolution opposing the tariffs by 88-11.

I wish the State of the Union speech were this week. But, the Senators are gutless and weak and will talk and jabber, but do nothing.

Irwin, I agree with you for the most part. This said, if the public outcry is strong enough from both sides there may be some hope. For the network of Trump to have such strong words is hopeful.

I was at my favorite local bar with neighbors last night and all except one had called or emailed their complaints about Trump’s despicable behavior. I and my family all emailed our republican senators.  You don’t need but a handful of republicans to castrate ( oops, Putin already has) Trumps agenda, at least until the midterms.

I have little hope in the spineless Senate.  It's like Trump is Caligula. There are some similarities.  The Roman Senators were no match for Caligula.  I can't imagine how Cabinet persons can stick around.  How can Coats stay? How can the head of the CIA stay? How can General Kelly hang in there.   Have they no standards?  Or, better, what are their standards?

As much as in normal times I would decry them staying, Coats, Haspel (sheesh!), Mattis, and Wray are what stand between us and a monumental failure of the republic. They need to stay.

Too many politicians believe that they have a career Vs public service.  Good reason for term limits.  Like have a president run for ONE 5 year term,  Senators Two  5 year terms, and representatives Two 5 year terms

Will keep new fresh faces there, and they could do their job without a constant running for office.

Best term limit policy - Vote the ba$tards out in November

Wow, talk about an uncomfortable person being forced to read something he doesn’t agree with. I expected him to be better at lying than that since he does it every hour on the hour.

Listen to what he said all around the complete and total BS he said about his slip. The shit hit the fan yesterday yet only this afternoon he tried/ lied about his spin.

It is always Trump first and keep Putin from playing the obvious card he has on Trump.

As De Niro said!

Such horse crap.  Agree, w+a.  When you look at the context of the "I don't see any reason why it would," statement, the world "wouldn't" doesn't fit the narrative.  Even for a babbling idiot like trump.  Did trump and his handlers really think anyone would buy this?
