Do you believe that your bargain basement wine purchase braggadocio and tasting notes are the only subjects that our members are interested in?

I'm glad you're a poster here, and no disrespect intended...

Perhaps we could just reduce these fora to nothing but discussions of petrol, sottobosco and Costco wine alerts...

Typical response in this thread and support for why it should be closed. Personal attack followed a defense of the childish behavior here. If I understand your reasoning, you are arguing that restricting you to talk about WINE on a WINE BOARD is not fair.

Then only read and post in the threads that are explicitly about wine?

That's not hard is it? Should we not have the food forum, the travel and entertainment one either?

It's obvious that a significant portion of the active users of this forum like to be able to talk about this stuff in one single thread out of the hundreds of other ones. Just don't read this one if you don't want to!

Not hard.

Incorrect in many ways.  There was nothing resembling an "attack."  I simply made a comment on a verifiable pattern of your incessant harping on purchase prices of the wines you purchase.  No one gives a frig what you pay for the wines you find in the bargain bin, Vino Me.  Trust me.

I post on wine frequently enough to feel that I have some standing here.  And in these days and times, your petulant requirement that every post here be about wine is unreasonable.  Most of us have broader interests, and for us to include them here isn't unreasonable.

I'd love for you to use actual facts, ANY facts at all to back up any of your assertions, it'd go a long way for me to understand your point of view.

GMan and PH...we could go back and forth all day.  Appears we have different views.  Illegal immigration is a huge problem. Just watch both Clintons, Obama and Schumer all saying it.

I have ZERO problem with legal immigration.  Huge problem with ILLEGAL immigration and if we cannot agree on that...then there is no point in continuing to discuss.

How much do you think it costs the US daily to care for the children arriving illegally (on ther own, with a parent or being smuggled in (Medical / Food / Sports / Housing...etc)?

I actually have enough facts and understanding to back my thoughts on the issue, i dont particularly care what cliton, obama and least of all schumer thinks about the situation.

again I'm just curious to see how illegal immigration affects you personally?  It's an interesting thought.  Are they taking your jobs away?

As with that, it certainly costs less than the 1.4 trillion that the government just borrowed and gave away.

From someone who has drank/dined with VM many times and who would like to meet PH probably about as much as anyone on these forums, I hope you guys don't take the disagreement too far. I'm one of the types who enjoys watching an argument/fight once in a while (I'm not classy, what can I say) but I hope this stays as civil as possible.

And I take advantage of bargain-bin pricing when I can.

You should try and meet PH if you can, well worth the effort.  Which reminds me, when’s the next DC/Ohio meet up?

The cost?  A small percentage of what the 1% picked up in the tax cut sham.

Where would you rather see the money go?  People who want to come here and make a life, pay their fair share of taxes and send their children to good schools, or people who already have it made.. whose kids go to private schools and Ivy League colleges and never have to work another day in their lives?  I know what my answer is.

PH

For Christ sake...they are arriving illegally.  Are you not capable of drawing a distinction?   If they arrive legally, their children would not be separated from them.  Not that hard.

And by the way, the wording on the statue of Liberty  is not the Law of the land.

Why denigrate people who put their kids in private and Ivy League schools?  And (for the most part) work very hard for what they have achieved.

In typical fashion for a trumpublican, you have still failed to answer a yes/no question after multiple opportunities.

Do you approve of taking infants from their parents to support your agenda?

Assuming the children are not in danger and their parents are not a threat to either the children or anyone else?  Do you think this is in keeping with our values as a country?

Yes or no?  Answer the question.   Please respond with one word.

PH

I don’t have an agenda.  The hypocrisy is stunning as well as the fever pitch.  To answer...in short yes.  They are illegal.  Separate, send them back ASAP.    Sounds bad...but the parents have responsibility for their actions.  And some are smuggled in. My wife came to the US many years ago legally!

It’s not about what they think of the current situation, it’s about how they spoke out against illegal immigration when it benefits them.

Does an issue have to affect you personally to be bad for the country?  One example...many illegals (and legals) drive in S FL without auto insurance....that causes the cost of my insurance to go up.  Small example.  Add in the worst Medicaid / Medicare fraud in the country right here.

My problem with anything you say is that very few of it is based on reality/facts.

driving without auto insurance is a big issue, but then again i have alot of legal citizens with florida plates driving in NY full time, even though they live in NY and pay florida insurance.
auto insurance fraud is also a big issue:
https://www.newsday.com/news/n...raud-scam-1.11405516
Again these aren't illegal immigrants committing these crimes.

Worst medicaid/medicare fraud are not committed by illegal immigrants but rather by fellow citizens.  https://www.theatlantic.com/ne...aud-takedown/488306/

You seem hung up on "but what about this person"   We're not talking about any one else except what is happening here and now with this particular adminstration.  I never dwell on anything that has happened in the past with someone else because they honestly have nothing to do with one another.  I have always voted against Schumer for instance, it didnt work out, but I don't use the fact that Schumer may h ave said something or done something in the past to even remotely justify what someone else does.  (btw Schumer is still a despicable person and his speeches in person are just a rambling mess.)

It's like saying, "oh hey, it's okay for me to steal from XXXX just because this other person i read about it does it".  Do people not have a moral compass anymore?  You know that line that you should know whether something is right and wrong?  Or do folks nowadays just use "oh but he's doing it too" as an excuse?

wait wait, I can play this game.  Jerry Sandusky is a bad hombre, but what about all those evil catholic priests that abuse little boys????  Does that mean jerry sandusky shouldn't be considered evil because someone else does it?  See how stupid that sounds?

Well, I'm certainly glad to hear you didn't have to smuggle your wife into the country.  Perhaps you can import a soul one day.  Legally, of course.

PH, you just don’t know Napa well. You see, he unlike you and me actually picked his parents. He picked parents that would guaranteed he would never be born in North Korea or Bangladesh or any war torn or third war country. He also made sure when selecting his parents they would be well educated and literate in multiple languages. Somehow the rest of the world missed out and failed to select our parents, but not Napa.

PH, these children who failed to select their parents must be removed from their families, period. They had their chance to select better parents and simply failed. Screw them! When I landed in NYC this week there were large protest at the airport. When I asked security what was going on, I was told that a plane full of kids was landing with children from Texas without their parents. PH, their parents are guilty of a misdemeanor for goodness sakes, or perhaps I should say Christ Sakes, seems that is the proper response from Napa, the chosen one. I’m also confident that Napa at four years old knew his selected parents phone number so that he could call and perhaps even have FaceTime with them.

These kids unselected parents are guilty of a misdemeanor, screw them! Just ask Napa and all of his fellow Trumpoid cult!

Exacly, just ask Brian Kilmeade from Fox News. "Like it or not, these are not our kids," he said. "Show them compassion, but it's not like he's doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas. These are people from another country"
