The whole forum will be going down shortly. Does anyone talk about wine anymore?
What was the last wine-related topic you started?
Better yet, what wine-related conversation you contributed that wasn't What Are You Buying or Drinking?
Since you’ve asked a wine-related (or at least forum-related question), which I trust is a genuine inquiry, and not merely an attack designed to prove yourself a superior forumite, I’ll gladly answer your question: without research, the last thread I believe I started was a thread regarding Chambolle-Musigny wines. In response, a number of forumites shared their knowledge and expertise to help me learn about these wines, which I appreciated. I’ve utilized the forum to learn and share about wine. Maybe my approach is different or more limited than others - so is my knowledge of wine relative to many here. I’m OK with that. Life’s a learning experience. I’ve met a number of good people and friends via offlines, which is the best part of this forum, to me. My life is full and leaves little time for online adventures, so I contribute where I can in a way that works for me. Selfish? Sure. Guilty as charged.
My comment was in regard to having to wade through too much non-wine-related stuff which is distracting from the intended purpose of a wine forum. By all means, if the community wishes to start or maintain a political forum, do it. Call it what it is - a political forum/thread and try not to co-mingle. I might find it interesting if it were actually a substantive discussion versus a name-calling, hate-spewing rhetoric platform. That’s not why I come here. I hope my answer satisfies your inquiry.
