As to Trump, rank the following from worst to least bad:

1) getting money from foreign govts for his hotel rooms

2) cheating on his wife, paying off Stormy and hiding the payoffs my claiming them as business expenses

3) inciting riots on Jan 6, 2021

4) trying to twist the arms of the Georgia elections officials to flip the election

5)  getting lawyers to file completely frivolous post election cases, claiming fraud in the absence of evidence

6) his habit of eating steak well done with ketchup

3 / 4 / 5 / 1 / 2 / 6    although the steak thing would get anyone thrown out of my house.

I keep hearing the talking heads about Trump’s legal troubles helping his campaign. Seriously? Exactly what has he accomplished since he was soundly beaten that would cause someone who didn’t vote for him in 2020 to now start supporting him? If you like me are and were anti-Trump in 2020 he has done nothing whatsoever to cause a change of heart.

Hell, his entire past staff is now attacking him, Fox News is no longer all in on this POS and even the senate minority leader doesn’t even have his back. Trump held his first official rally in Waco Texas, a place where over 20m people are 2 hours or less away. By the time he was finished lying the cult had diminished to nearly half as people wanted to beat the traffic out of the parking lot.😂

Does Trump’s current and soon much more serious legal issues make his cult supporters rally? Sure. Who cares?

To me, the biggest issue is how many sub moronic troglodytes there are who worship him no matter what. Not to mention all of the GOP members who publicly claim that the investigations are unwarranted. How about the ones visiting and canonizing the scumbags who attacked the Capitol? We are on the path to being a shithole nation of idiocy, and adversarial regimes are ready to take advantage. Let’s not forget the new strategy of election denial, voter access interference, etc.

I’m damn thankful to not have children to worry about.

William H. Taft was an overweight Republican President in the early part of the 20th century.  He ran for re-election and lost.  Thereafter, he went to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Donald J. Trump was an overweight Republican President in the early part of the 21st century.  He ran for re-election and lost.  He now goes before the New York County Supreme Court.

Taft was the first President to throw out the first pitch to start the baseball season.  Trump was the first President thereafter to fail to do so.

So apparently as part of the booking process, NYPD measured Donald Trump's height and weight.

Remember when he was in the White House, his reported height/weight was 6'3'' and 239 pounds (which was just under the level of being "obese" at 29.9)?

Turns out he's 6'1'' and 270 pounds

Sports world has hilarious reactions to Donald Trump’s weight (msn.com)

Puts him at a BMI of 35.6 (Obesity is anything over 30).

Well, well.  I'm sure it's going to be a huge check.  But Fox will write it, take the tax write off, and be back to business as usual in a week.

I'm expecting that there will be more than money, at least some kind of apology or clarification or other form of humiliating grovelling on the shows that defamed Dominion.  Hope I'm right!

Humiliation for the shameless? Please. I’m sure they’ve already had the spin scripted for a long time, and will now make themselves the victim of a company that “weaponized” the legal system. May Rupert and all of the talking heads who were complicit in stoking the fires of the attack on the Capitol get cancer.

Which is FAR more than they ever thought they would ever receive. Far more, no appeals and paid over 10x the value of their small company.

Fox next pending suit is for $2B for admitted lies and this evidence can be used per legal talking heads.

yea agreed, company with only 17.5 mm annual revenue.  The private equity that owns dominion is definitely feeling pretty dang good.

I don't know why would anyone expect Fox News to say anything beyond what they said.  I'm sure the settlement involves no admission of guilt by FN, and includes a non-disparagement clause.  They're acting exactly how I'd expect them to act.  I'm sure stroking the $787 million check makes it clear to everyone what happened and the extent to which Fox believed in the strength of its defense.   There's also further litigation pending as I understand it.  Best to just shut up.

apparently fox news submitted 4 episodes of simpsons, where homer had difficulty deciding who to pick, as the reason why they needed to speak lies about the election process.

I wonder what Dominion could prove that it suffered in the way of economic or reputational harm had the case gone to trial?  I am sure someone here followed the case more closely than I.  Maybe everyone did.  The S. Ct. has said that punitive damages (which were sought here) have to bear some relationship to compensatory damages.  So, if the case had gone to trial, clearly Dominion could likely prove that Fox put out false information, knowing it was false.

But, what was the exact harm to Dominion? Did they lose customers?

A question for the lawyers here:

Dominion sues Fox, saying Fox broadcast lies which they knew were false, and which damaged the Plaintiff.  Suit included claims for compensatory and punitive damages.
Fox pays Dominion some money.  Well, the source of the false information which Fox decided to broadcast was D J Trump.  Could not Fox pursue an indemnification/contribution claim against DJT?
They would have to prove that he (or his agents) fed the false info to them.  That’s easy.  They would have to prove damages.

i think if the assumption is that electronic voting should be the future, and now through lies, the 700 million dollars a year business will be in jeopardy,  And you acn certainly point to quite a few local spots in texas, arizona, colorado where counties are spending millions to go back to hand counting.

I'm sure you can add up not only current losses but future potential revenues too.

As a tax payer, I'm very annoyed that folks would literally make their own lives more expensive.  It's almost like half of this country doesn't pay taxes or something that they can choose things that cost them more money =D
