From the LA Times: "G.M. Drops Its Support for Trump Climate Rollbacks and aligns With Biden--General Motors said it would no longer back President Trump’s lawsuit seeking to strip California of the power to set fuel economy standards.

"General Motors abandoned President Trump’s battle to nullify California’s fuel economy rules meant to curb global warming, the strongest sign yet that corporate America is moving on from Mr. Trump and adapting to an incoming Democratic administration."

Biden's not even in office yet, and in my view he may never be due to a possible coup, but things are already getting better.

She isn't the head of the Judiciary Committee. She is the highest ranking Democrat, thus in the minority.  She is giving up that position.

Thank you for the correction. Even as a Californian I say, happy days. Her actions during the last Supreme Court justice hearing, particularly at the end where  she praised Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham for his handling of the process and gave him a hug at the conclusion, were a disgrace.

1) The hug was unmasked. That was terrible. At 87 yrs old, she's in the high risk department. 2) She could have just hugged him in a private room, if she really felt the need. 3) If a male Senator came up to a female committee chair and hugged her, there would be a complaint of harassment.

Well, also she hugged the man who just picked her (and the public's) pocket, metaphorically speaking.

Lincoln spoke of the proposition that "all men are created equal." Forgetting for the moment about the unigender term of "men", President Trump doesn't seem to accept that proposition at all.

Lincoln spoke of honoring the soldiers who fought for the US cause and who died at Gettysburg.  Trump would not go to the US military cemetery in France and has reportedly referred to soldiers as "suckers and losers."

Trump is the antithesis of Lincoln in these regards.

Lincoln's speech was under 300 words long and took under 2 minutes to deliver.  Doubtless, Trump will drone on and on.

Rudy is going to Gettysburg tomorrow to give an address.  Trump is last-minute scheduled to be there.  Will it be the the oratorical and moral heir to the speech previously known as "The Gettysburg Address" (but which will now, obviously, be known as "One Of The Gettysburg Addresses")?  Stay tuned!

You got to be kidding.  A scumbag, speaking at hallowed ground

Bill Barr today, "To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election."

A little late, and there is that nauseating "to date" qualifier, to save his reputation which is in tatters. In a similar vein I read that Rudy is trying to angle for a pre-pardon from Trump.

Rudy, Don Jr, Ivanka, and Eric all looking for pre-pardons.  Maybe one of the lawyers here can explain why you would need a pardon if you haven't committed any crimes

Washington pardoned the Whiskey Rebellion folks

Ford Pardoned Nixon for any crimes he may have committed in office

Carter pardoned the draft dodgers.

None of these were ever indicted

And Clinton pardoned a whole bunch of miscreants.  The most notorious of whom was Marc Rich, who was in the process of being prosecuted by Rudy Giuliani.  Marc Rich's wife donated a bunch of money to the Clinton library and to the Clinton and other Democratic campaigns. (Campaign contributions are a legalized form of bribery).  The pardon of Marc Rich was extremely sleazy and in keeping with Bill Clinton's persona.

"Brad Parscale says Trump would have 'won by a landslide' if he showed empathy during COVID"

I've said this for some time. As horrendous as he was if he had just taken it a little more seriously and shown a little compassion for the victims, he would have won in a walk. Fortunately for democracy he was born without a brain or a heart.

As I've said before he was Jane "Bryned" "Snow, what snow?"

I guess my sarcasm was missed.  My point is, the abuse of the office for the last four years has been widespread and disgusting, so of course there were crimes committed by these folks.  But all of the Trump Humpers have been claiming everything has been above board the whole time.

Hunter Biden is the crook! Look at his laptops!  Drug use!  Etc Etc.   But when it comes to the Trump kids, nada.  The hypocrisy is just so rich.

I still remember that storm, and the dirty piles of snow lingering around my grammar school well into the spring. We lived in the Austin neighborhood, a few blocks from the border with Oak Park.

I was in Rogers Park. I had dug out my parking space and created an opened sided igloo. I had, as required by Chicago snow code, patio furniture to put in my space when I left it. I believe that's when I ruined the transmission on my Dodge Duster trying to rock back and forth to get out of my space by having to hump over the tire track snow mounds that were formed in the street. Golden memories.

Congratulations to the United States of America. COVID-19 is the leading cause of death in America over the last week! Just yesterday alone we had more Covid deaths than Japan has had in their totality. Impressive.

All this and our Thanksgiving spike is still 10-14 days away, just in time for Christmas. Americas current death rate projections will surpass heart disease and cancer combined on a daily average. Impressive, again.

Both Ted Cruz and the orange pile of dung in the Oval Office said time and time again that the “ media” wouldn’t be saying the Covid word after November 3rd. What they must have meant is they wouldn’t be saying the word again. The POS named Trump has not address the nation since he lost the election in a landslide  (Trump’s own words) about the worse health crisis in over 100 years. Not a single fucking news conference, not an all hands on deck news conference with medical experts, not showing his face once to answer questions about how America plans to hopefully give the needed 656 million needed injections over the next 9 months- year. Not a single ounce of empathy offered to the nation. Not one.

For Napa and other Trump supporters, you must truly be proud of your leader that has failed the USA in her greatest health crisis, all while spreading lies and saying ( his words) the justice department is in on his loss, the FBI ( his words) is in on his loss, the head of cyber security that was voted in by the senate unanimously is in on his loss,  ( his words) the Republican governor of Georgia is in on his loss and Trump wishes he would have never supported him ( his words) and the same in Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, blah blah blah.

Let them eat cake .

Remember how respected (deservedly so, at the time) this guy was after 9/11? Hard to believe he’s the same person. The dirt that 45 must have on him...

being here during that time, it was all a dog whistle.

he was always known as a bully, but the cop union loved him cuz he gave them free reign to do whatever they wanted.

He liked to tout how much time he spent at ground zero, but every opportunity was at a best a presser where he'd give a speech for an hour and he got out.  The firefighters were pretty pissed at him for saying he was there down there as long as they were and that he got just as exposed to the air quality dangers of the disaster site.  Hell, I will even say that I was breathing in more of that shit than Guilliani ever did.

I blame the main stream media and their endless pursuit to find "emotional pieces" and "heroes".

My belief still is that he's got a real bad case of syphillis so his mind is going.

Agree with this entirely and we were there also for much of his time as Mayor albeit pre-9-11.

He did a lot to clean up the City but much of it was also based upon extremely racist policing and policies.  His popularity was in the toilet before 9-11 - I recall the NY marathon one year, probably 1999 - I think it was right before we moved - where he was relentlessly booed by the crowd - including Stef - as they went up 1st Avenue

Oh, no question. I was in the city often during his tenure and he was highly unpopular when he left office and was front page tabloid news often with his marriage.

All that said, as a monthly visitor to Manhattan during much of his tenure, I agree completely he helped clean up areas, or happened when he was mayor. Time Square/ 42nd Ave. were cesspools. I also agree we are now seeing he is not a man of character whatsoever. He is a whore wearing a suit badly.

I offer him the same empathy he and the POS writing him checks offer to other COVID victims. The White House is clearly a super spreader cesspool of whores and fools.

The Republican government of Georgia's response - in court - to Trump's legal team's request that members of the electoral college put in place by the votes of Georgia voters be ignored and a team of pro-Trump electoral college electors be put in their place:

""Their claims would be extraordinary if true, but they are not. Much like the mythological “kraken” monster after which Plaintiffs have named this lawsuit, their claims of election fraud and malfeasance belong more to the kraken’s realm of mythos than they do to reality.""

They appended a footnote, which reads: “A ‘kraken’ is a mythical sea monster appearing in Scandinavian folklore, being ‘closely linked to sailors’ ability to tell tall tales.’”

The judge hearing the case said: “They want this court to substitute its judgment for that of two and a half million Georgia voters who voted for Joe Biden,” Batten said, "and this I am unwilling to do.”

The last person who still thinks Trump has any integrity or credibility left, please turn out the lights as you leave the building....

acutally I recall it was bloomberg that really changed the time sq area to the extreme tourist desintation it is today.  Guilliani did massively step up the police patrols around time sq, which lead to an anchor tenant like Olive Garden to buy out a massive spot where a few dirty strip clubs used to be.  He gave alot of RE developers some sweet heart deals where they paid pretty much 0 taxes to the city.  A bold deal for sure, and i'll grant him a vision for that combined with the police presence really upped the area.

With that investment came alot of folks that finally had a big flashy neon and "affordable" full dining resto to visit when watching a broadway show.  Heck, I was at the Olive garden its first year of opening in time sq, I got a lap dance from the wait staff because it was my birthday =)

But one avenue over by port authority, it's still kinda dirty and grungy even as some fancy new chains have stepped up and moved in.
