The fire in Santa Rosa was stopped 80 yards from our house. We were evacuated but are now back home and we are the lucky ones. We had a small dinner Friday night and invited our good friends who were burned out. He is GM of a large winery and she is in the business as well. For this dinner, no wine was sacred. We bbq'd rack of lamb with roast veggies and caesar salad. Started with NV Krug, followed by Leroy white burgundy, then with dinner, 1989 Lafite Rothschild and 1989 Pichon Baron. Dinner, the wines and the good friends were all superb. After they left to return to the winery guest house, it sunk in just how lucky we were. They were lucky as well, Sunday night late their dogs woke them up. The fire was close and they evacuated with their pets, computers and cell phones. Bye Bye to years of Vogue Musigny and Bonnes Mares and much more but that can all be replaced. Count your blessings

Wow - close escape! And good way to celebrate.

Glad you didn't lose anything. I was up there yesterday and it seems that there were also some random fires that started here and there in addition to the main ones through SR. Terrible stuff.
