Good luck, its even hard to get hold of in Oz and even mailing list customers are restricted to six bottles. I love the stuff.

I checked Wine Searcher Pro and there is none listed in the US so I don't think it will be easy to find.

Assuming this is Rockford Black Shiraz - a sparkling shiraz from Barossa. Awesome stuff - I only manage to get a few bottles here and there from a friend who's father is on the mailing list. Very rare stuff.

Getting on a aussie winemakers mailing and living in the US.... and getting them to ship it here..... That is my goal

My aunt & uncle lived in the Barossa for about 15 years, and still have friends there. I can email my aunt and see if there's anyone she trusts to hook you up, and will let you know what she says. I've had her do it for me before- just be prepared, as it isn't cheap to ship.

Not even Aussies can get on Rockford's list to get the black shiraz now. Good luck!

Heyta, my aunt emailed me back and said if it's available at the cellar door, someone can pick it up for you. When do you need it? Also, I looked on winesearcher, and there are retailers in Australia that have it in stock, so you could go that route also.

I don't believe it's available at cellar door - most is sold through the mailing list, and a little trickles into specialist wine stores or is available through the secondary market.

Only place I've seen it in Melbourne was at Como wine store on Toorak Road for about $80 AUS a bottle.

TORB: I am green with envy. That sounds like a heck of a tour. I've made it out to some NZ wineries, but the australian ones seem so much older and more experienced. Can't wait to get out there sometime.

Heyta, sorry for the delayed response on this; my aunt was out of town. She emailed me tonight and said she spoke with Dave at Rockford, and he said contact Dan Phillips at Grateful Palate and tell him you're acting on Dave's advice about getting a single bottle imported. Dave says it is around $200 to ship a single bottle straight from the winery due to US customs, but that an importer can get it pretty cheaply. Now, I am questioning if my aunt told Dave EXACTLY what you are looking for, but I don't know. I just emailed her back and asked her to ask him if he will give up a bottle of Black. I also mentioned to her that she had sent me "gifts" of wine that I received with no problems from customs. So, if you still want the wine, I'm still working on it.
