Wow, busy week. Had a pre-harvest party (harvast had already started- early). I roasted a 65lb. lamb on a spit in my backyard over my stone laid firepit. It was fantastic! Made a stew last night with the leftovers. Mediterranian stew with artichokes and lentils. Here are some of the wines we drank;
with the stew last night
97 Morgan Pinot Noir- drink now, loosing it's edge
98 EIEIO Pinot Noir- beatiful wine, rich, spicey, well balanced with cherry and raspberry flavors- from the Willamette Valley- can be ordered from the Tasting Room in Carlton, OR 503-852-6733
99 Pernand Vergelesses Rapet Pere & fils- Stinky and outstanding! I'm buying more of this today.
BBQ wines- there were 41 bottles in the morning, but here are the few I had and recommend;
99 Dunham Syrah multiple bottles
97&99 Dunham "Shirly Mays"
93 Woodward Canyon Artist Series Cabernet
98 Dunham Cabernet- Some of this is still available at Larry's Market in Seattle at Oak Tree
97 Marryvale Profile
98 Marryvale Reserve Merlot
01 Buty Chardonnay
99 Pepper Bridge Cabernet multiple bottles
97 Byron IO Rhone blend
97 Produtori del Barbaresco "Rabaja" yummy
00 Verget Pouilly- Fuisse
97 Bombauer Lardmead Cellars Cab
99 Beaucastel Ch de P.
Betz Family 98? red
and the crappy bottle of the night was a 98 Raveswood Zin that just didn't have any fruit.
It was a great party and now I must go back to crush.
