Hockey HOF’er Bobby Hull at 84.
In 1972 I sat a few seats away from Bobby Hull at the Vancouver game of the first Canada-Russia hockey series. Hull wasn’t allowed to play because he had left the NHL for the upstart WHA.
All night kids kept walking past me to get to Hull and request an autograph. He did not turn a single kid away, even those who asked for multiple autographs for their friends and relatives. He engaged in a very short conversation with most of them. He was a real gentleman, and a great ambassador for pro hockey.
RIP, Mr Hull.
