I missed this when it happened a few days ago.
Rupert Neve, age 94
His mixing consoles were the state of the art in recording studios. They're still sought after. So many classic albums were recorded and mixed using Neve consoles, including most of The Beatles albums.

Sad, indeed. I never met him, but do know Gary Snyder (last of the "beats," although he decries that label). The late great William Merwin, another friend, was of that generation, too, but hardly a "beat." I miss Merwin a lot and am hoping Gary hangs on. He was doing well last time I saw him.
