I am new to wine so bear with me.... =) I really like reisling because it tastes sweet and "wet". But, I really want to start drinking a red wine because I hear it is good for your heart. Here is the question....What is a good red wine that is sweet and not bitter that maybe would have a similar taste of a reisling.
thank you,
Brandy

Keep drinking Riesling. Hit the gym, watch your fat intake and don't worry about it. The health benefits of drinking red wine pale in comparison to the other proactive things you can do to take care of yourself. Plus, there isn't a sweet red wine that can hold a candle to the sweeter whites.

In agreement. Kind of like the arguement some use about organic produce. They will not under any circumstances eat conventional produce as they claim it's "harmful." The health benefits from that conventional bell pepper dwarf any chance that a speck of pesticide residue makes it through a good washing. I'm all for organics, but c'mon now.

Eat right, exercise, and enjoy the reisling. But, if you insist on trying out some reds, you might try out something like a Sutter Home zinfandel (regular, not white), or merlot. They don't win any awards, but they are easy to find, unbitter, and smooth drinking starter reds.

Good luck,
