Currently the greatest show on TV is from Canada. No, not the sublime Schitt's Creek, but Letterkenny. My friend put it best, "It's simultaneously the stupidest thing I have ever seen and the most brilliant show I've seen in a long time." That's a "hard yes."

I think even if you're from Canada it requires subtitles to be on.

Letterkenny is really funny.

So our friends who own a local restaurant are big fans of the show.  It turned out the lead singer from the Arkells was eating with his girlfriend the other day and talk turned to the show as one of them posed as a character from it on the restaurant's social media - the guy says he is really good friends with Jared from the show and shows pics on his camera of them together.  Apparently after leaving, he came back to get my friend's phone number - the next day Jared from the show calls to thank them for being such fans of the show.  The husband doubted it was true and eventually, Jared went into character and started performing.  Anyway, apparently he is extremely nice.  How Canadian

The language on the show  is almost Shakespearean in its creation and use of  wordplay.  When they do one of their rhyming riffs, or go through the alphabet, sometimes you just shake your head in amazement.

Wheel, snipe, celly, boys. It's not just for hockey anymore.

Just finished Cheer on Netflix.  It wasn't my choice originally, but it reeled me in quickly.  Inspiring and dark simultaneously.  These are not the cheerleaders of my youth.  Amazing athleticism and dedication by these young people.  But...  man.  They take a hell of a beating.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

First episode of the new season. Best episode in probably 4 or 5 seasons. Brilliant.

Indeed...excellent debut last night.  My favorite show.  Leon is hysterical...they all  are really.  Looking forward to this every Sunday.

Indeed. Just an excellent speech!  Home run.  Now Mitch can tear up the bogus articles of impeachment!

I was wondering if you would slither out of 45’s rectum long enough to chime in.

Good to know your thinking of me..

TV-shows are not my favorite entertainment. I don't like them very much. But I've seen some through the years so I have a shortlist of those that I do like:

Married with children

X-files

The Twilight Zone

Seinfeld

The lost room

Black mirror

IT-crowd (UK)

Misfits

Mad men

Breaking Bad

Well, if we are going all-time:

Comedies (in descending order):

Seinfeld

Curb  (since the divorce)

Arrested Development (first 3 seasons)

Get Smart

Dramas (too many to list but what really sticks with me, in rough descending order, excluding GOT, which is its own thing):

The first season of Homeland

The Americans

The first 7 episodes of the first season of True Detective

The first 3 seasons of The Sopranos

The first 3 seasons of The West Wing

Dexter season 4 (Trinity Killer)

Three Days of the Condor, what a piece of shit. Redford does some interesting early films of which Three Days is the best. Other overlooked gems include include the wry The Candidate with its great ending line and the well made Downhill Racer (directed by Michael Ritchie of all people.)

For extra credit, without looking it up, answer this question. Who was his character in his only Twilight Zone appearance, in the episode Nothing in the Dark?

PBS's NOVA "Polar Extremes" 2/5/20 release.

I wouldn't normally recommend a single episode in this thread, but this 2 hr show kept me thoroughly engaged as it went through geologic time with the earth's climate and its drivers.  Made very good comparisons to times when CO2 levels were higher. We are currently over 400 ppm, well above the 180-300 ppm range that has existed for thousands of years during this time of inactive volcanic activity. You'll come away with a much better understanding of climate change.

Wounded Cop/Angel of Death   One of my favorites.

Bingo bingo. And don't forget the wonderful older actress Gladys Cooper.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Already brilliant, so far this season is the funniest sitcom season I've seen in decades.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to really disagree. I think there was an odd scene at the beginning of the first episode that shows the problem. No spoilers; so I'll just say it concerned a selfie stick. Many parts of this season are like that scene. It's often very forced and takes Larry's misanthropic behavior to new heights that are unbelievable even for him.

I do like that they shot more than one scene at Lunetta by Day.

I hope I did not rain on your parade.

I too think this is the finest season thus far in many years.

The MAGA hat theme and the Jeff/ Weinstein storyline are hilarious imo.

I loved the first episode, but wasn't fond of eps 2 and 3. Still haven't watched last week's yet.
