Reccomendations for TV Show's Thread

Jack Ryan- they keep redoing this story but I like this modern day version. Wendell Pierce is perfect in this role. If this series continues I hope it leads into the John Clark stuff.

I watched the first 3 episodes last night. For me, the actor to watch is Ali Suliman, who oddly enough plays Suleiman.

Already renewed for a second season. Noomi Rapace (Girl With The Dragaon Tattoo) joins the cast next season.

Loved the first 6-episode season of Derry Girls.  Set in Londonderry / Derry in Northern Ireland around 1990. Follows a group of Catholic school girls.

Really sharp, profane and funny. If you liked the Brit series Peep Show you'd probably enjoy this. The dialogue comes fast and furious, though, so if you aren't familiar with Northern Ireland accents you might miss a fair bit. (You can probably watch it with subtitles.) Mrs. S's family is from Belfast, so I was able to catch 90% of it.

That clip is right up my alley.  Is it available in the US?  Netflix, Amazon?

Hmmm. It appears not. But there are always ways to watch it, not that I want to elaborate here.

A big Thank You to all of you here who recommended The Americans. My wife and I have binged on the first 4 seasons in the last few weeks, and are totally taken by this excellent series.

It was unavailable for current viewing in our area, but it turns out that it is available on DVD from the local public library! Unfortunately, we are 73rd in line to get Season 5, so there would have to be a delay prior to us seeing it, but we're going away for 4 weeks on holiday in a few days anyway so this all works out for the best; we might be able to get it as soon as we return home. It's almost like someone's keeping an eye on us to make sure this happens.

The new Magnum PI reboot will be on tonight.  I am a huge fan of the original, so I suppose I will watch this to see how it compares.  But I am not holding my breath.

I was wondering when the reboot would happen.  I wouldn't say I was a huge fan, but I did enjoy watching it if anything for the scenery.  When the reboot of Hawaii-Five O came out, I thought it was good for the first half dozen episodes.  Then the novelty wore off, and you realized that it was the same plot that gets resolved at the end of the show.   I will probably watch it, but it will need something to make me DVR it.

I don't think I've read more poor reviews on a TV show for a while.  My mom watched the original and kept trying to convince us kids to watch it with her.  Other than the 308, I just didn't get it.  Love Hawaii, though.

Count me as one who watched the original and loved it. This one, from the previews I've seen, makes him seem more like a James Bond wannabe. Selleck had charm. Don't know what Jay Hernandez brings to the table other than hyper-action scenes.

"Ivan, did you see the sunrise this morning?"

Thanks for the heads up on this. As with you it is available at our local library, but season 1 is currently out on loan. Will reserve it.

One of the most unappreciated shows in years. Also where many drama series' fail in their finale, this one goes out on top.

Amazon Prime has seasons 1-6 for streaming.

So glad you’re enjoying it!  And if anything it only gets better in the last two seasons.

I adore that series.

P.S.  Dunno about Canadia, but ‘round these parts the entire thing is available for free (if you have Amazon Prime) on Amazon.

Yeah, I imagined this ending in about 5 different ways. Great ending and great show.
