I also like the new season of Doctor Who.  I've stopped watching after Season 5 I think, but the current episodes have been entertaining and fresh.

I've watched and enjoyed all the modern seasons for a number of reasons:

-my kids, both as teens and as adults, liked it as much as me

-each Doctor and companion was different which kept the show fresh

-the story lines were usually original or at least not predictable

-it wasn't always sci-fi, or at least not always so much sci-fi

-the subtle - on not-to-subtle - messaging was usually spot on

-almost every episode made me laugh at least three times

Started watching The Fall on Netflix which stars Gillian Anderson (X-Files).  She's looking great.  The show is very good too.

We really enjoyed all three series though they moved quite slowly in places. A degree of patience is needed.

We also enjoyed a similar British series, Marcella, starring Anna Friel.

The Little Drummer Girl  mini-series on AMC was excellent. Top notch John le Carré with a great cast: Michael Shannon, Alexander Skarsgard and Florence Pugh. Charles Dance also excelled in a relatively small role.

Hoping this is better than the horribly miscast film with Diane Keaton. I did not like The Night Manager mini-series at all so we'll see.

Loved the first 6-episode season of Derry Girls.  Set in Londonderry / Derry in Northern Ireland around 1990. Follows a group of Catholic school girls.

Really sharp, profane and funny. If you liked the Brit series Peep Show you'd probably enjoy this. The dialogue comes fast and furious, though, so if you aren't familiar with Northern Ireland accents you might miss a fair bit. (You can probably watch it with subtitles.) Mrs. S's family is from Belfast, so I was able to catch 90% of it.

This finally showed up on Netflix in December. A word of warning that the first episode isn't as good as those that follow. The series gets better as it progresses. Episode 1 feels like a pilot.

C's loving this series.  I tried, but the accents were too thick for me to catch more than about every other sentence.

Finished "Killing Eve".

The almost unanimous rave reviews have me perplexed. Good acting by Sandra Oh, but that's about it. Major detractors: the jokey, almost slapstick vibe throughout; the OTT mugging by the other female lead; and the complete implausibility of so many of the plot points and character motivations.

I found it very entertaining and actually really enjoyed the jokey slapstick vibe, especially of the villain.   I find Sandra Oh a little hard to look at but she was actually pretty good in this role.  Looking forward to the next season.

We just finished watching season 1 and while I understand they are making a season 2 it won't have me as an audience. I couldn't stand Sandra Oh in this. Her performance should be shown to young actors as an example of over-acting. MI-5 agent screaming for help? I was seriously hoping they were both going to die at the end.

My opinion of the Golden Globes has dropped significantly. To give Sandra Oh an award for that performance is a joke.

Mrs. S would agree with you.

Relative to the other actress's performance, Oh gave a National Theatre-calibre performance. But taken in isolation, yeah OK, they were both pretty bad.

Just finished watching this and loved it.  My wife tried to watch, but she just doesn't enjoy the British humor like I do.

Watched the Netflix documentary about the Fyre Festival disaster in the Bahamas.  I remember when the event happened (or didn't) a while back.  Great to see the "behind the scenes" background of what went wrong.

That was comical.   It would have been a great social experiment.

"Darwinism at its finest." was the best quote.
