Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams on Amazon Prime. Big budget anthology with some big names attached. I'm up to episode 5.

Any good? I drowsed off on #1 and haven't gotten back to it.

PH

Unfortunately, since "Hollywood" discovered Philip K. Dick, starting with the awful Blade Runner, they've ruined one story of his after another. This series is no different. Weirdly I think the best adaptation was the rotoscoped A Scanner Darkly. (Yes all these pronouncements are really just my opinions. Does anyone on a forum need to state this or put in IMHO?)
Just watched Jim Jefferies' latest special, Freedumb for the second time, just to be sure my first impression was close to correct.

Stunning.

Do not watch this if you:

1) Are easily offended by rape jokes, are an intractable gun nut, are super religious, are jingoistic, inflexible or prude in any sense of the word.

2) Have anyone in the same room who fits ANY of the criteria in #1. Trust me on this. Trust me.

Otherwise, I'd recommend you give it a look on Netflix. Be prepared to be offended, challenged and to laugh your fucking ass off. Fucking genius.

I'm half way through Ugly Delicious on Netflix and love it. Best food related program I've seen in a long time. David Chang has matured and now shows really well on TV. The BBQ episode was my favorite so far. The emotion he showed in the Tokyo scene was powerful.

Just watched the first two episodes. Entertaining and informative.
Watched the first episode of "Trust" last night.

I haven't yet seen "All the Money in the World", the Ridley Scott theatrical version of the Getty kidnapping.

Based on this first episode, I think the TV series is going to be a wild ride thanks to Danny Boyle's flamboyant directing and especially to Donald Sutherland's portrayal of JP Getty. He's totally invested in the role.

All the Money in the World
Director: Ridley Scott
JP Getty: Christopher Plummer
Gail Harris/Getty: Michelle Williams
Fletcher Chase: Mark Wahlberg

Trust
Director: Danny Boyle
JP Getty: Donald Sutherland
Gail Getty: Hilary Swank
Fletcher Chace: Brendan Fraser

Is there a way to correct the spelling of "Reccomendations"---the first word in the title of this thread. I get a headache every time I see it.
Thanks.

The OP can go back and edit the thread title, or Robert could do us all a kindness and fix it. I'm with you. It's a great thread, but the title bugs me every time I see it. Berno!! Are you out there???

Paging Robert Taylor!!!!!!!!!!1
With baseball season upon us, I've been working my way through Ken Burns' Baseball. Like much of his stuff, it can get a little ponderous, but mostly it's really good. I just got through the time period covering Jackie Robinson. That segment alone was worth the price of admission. They guy was an amazingly patient and talented individual.

Good.
I have the first 2 recorded and have heard mixed reviews. I'll try to check in on it this weekend.

I bet I know why the miced reviews.

The first episode is all exposition with little payoff. The second episode is much better. But... it is also played straight. It is not “Stefon” and while there are some very funny moments in the second episode, curiosity is a greater driving force for me than laughs now. It had a 98% critics’ score on RT, but they get several episodes to make their assessment. I think this is a funny — and at times sweet and dramatic — slow burn.

I read they based the season on Angel Flight
