As for something else, is anyone else watching The Night Manager? Fantastic stuff. I've seen 2 of the 3 episodes thus far, and it's great.

I try very hard not to give spoilers and I'm not sure what I said that is one. That a mother and daughter fight or two old agents talk?

As for NM I watched the first episode and was not impressed, but do plan on watching more.

OK, I'm not sure if it was a spoiler, but I sensed enough to literally stop reading. I don't know what the rest said.

I liked the first episode of NM quite a bit, and thought the second was even better. I think Hiddleston & Laurie are both very good. Some amazing scenery as well.

I watched The Night Manager a month ago and while it kept my interest, and it improved after the first episode, it never rose above a B+ mini-series.

Loving this season of The Americans. Agree with TOM about the quality of the last episode.

Banshee season 4 Cool

Final season I believe Frown. Another great show

Outcast and Quarry are just around the corner. Wink
Sad it's Banshee's last season. My current favorite show.

Quarry looks like it could be interesting. Outcast looks to creepy. I can't watch shows like that.

Another great, great, great episode of The Americans. If anything we learn it's not fun to search a home. For those of us who saw The Day After live, it was also a haunting reminder of the time a TV show shook a a nation.

I'm running a week or so behind, and just caught last week's episode a couple nights ago. Keri Russell had me scared straight. You have to wonder if her character is the most badass mom ever.

My wife figured out around 44 minutes what the solution is going to be to the Pastor Tim problem.

And was she right?

Terrific season so far... Except for the Nina plot line. That was a huge dead end. I also thought the scene with Richard Thomas in the last episode was just bizarre. Will it tie back to any of the other storylines?

No, but it would have fixed the problem. Frown

I am sure. The show is too well written to have that scene not have purpose later.

Excellent news for us (we?) fans of The Americans, it has been renewed for 13 episode season next year and a final 10 episode season in 2018. The best series almost always have ending dates driven by the show, not by the ratings. As always I point to The Sopranos as an excellent show that stayed too long at the fair.

I was glad to see this as well. I like the idea of having the end date determined by the show as opposed to just keeping it on as a cash cow. I think one thing that may have helped this is that I don't think The Americans is a hugely watched show, so it's not like FX is living off its ratings.

Note however that Breaking Bad, a real cash machine, was also ended by artistic decisions (or other reasons), not by ratings.

I mostly agree about The Sopranos, although I really liked the scene where Tony pistol-whipped and curb-stomped the guy who disrespected Meadow. Eek
Apocalypse - World War One

A five part series using actual colourized film shot during the war that tells the story of the war from before the first shot to just after the last. Lots of clips from archives probably rarely if ever seen before, from pretty much every country involved. Fascinating to anyone with an interest in the war or the history of the period. As non-judgmental as it is likely possible to be.
Just watched the season finale of Schitt's Creek, though it gets little attention here, the season finale was one of the sweetest I've seen in years. Wonderfully written by Daniel Levy who gets to full use of the characters they've all created and the knowledge of the actors' abilities developed during two years of working together.

As one who watched SCTV from the first time it was ever on American television--and knew that the SCTV boys could kick the comedy crap out of most of the SNL guys any day--I say this was excellent TV.

Dan also knows Eugene's acting ability since he's his son, and grew up watching his father work with O'Hara and the rest of the SCTV gang.
