Glad you're enjoying it. I'm going to wait a year or two and binge watch it again.

Best show ever. I loved season 5 too. Was pissed that it was 10 episodes instead of 12.

Anyone else watching the second season of The Bridge? I'm a bit torn on it now. It definitely has some interesting aspects going on, but also seems like a bit too much "work" to follow everything. Definitely not something I can watch while multi-tasking.

I haven't watched any yet, but it is working its way up my queue for On Demand. I really liked the first season -- love how strange the female lead is -- and your descriptor of "too much work" sounds like an endorsement to me. If I can multi-task during a TV show, it probably isn't worth watching in the first place.

We're only 2 episodes in, but so far I think I like season two better than the first season. Definitely not a show for multitasking.

Looking forward to the 4th and final season of The Killing that Netflix resurrected. I know they lost most of their audience with the protracted first two seasons, which is a shame, because the third season was brilliant. Peter Sarsgaard was amazing. I expect that Joan Allen will be a great addition to the cast in season 4.

I didn't realize that a final season of The Killing was going to be on Netflix. Season 1 and 2 were up and down, but you're right in that season 3 was very good.

It's a short season: only 6 episodes. It'll be released on August 1st. As is the way on Netflix, the entire season is available that day.

The best things going right now: The Bridge and Ray Donovan.

The first half of the first season of Ray Donovan was iffy, but it improved by leaps and bounds in the second half. And so far, season two is equally good.

John Voight is fantastic in this. Last season, Rosanna Arquette had a great part, and this season it has been fun to see Ann-Margret.

PH . . . as a fellow Marylander, did you find that this show had that extra bit of appeal and intrigue? Any of us growing up in or around Baltimore likely recognized much of the scenery and were familiar with real-life versions of many of the plots.

Until I was 6, I lived within a stones throw of Hopkins Hospital while my father was completing his residency and fellowship. The low rises were right in my back yard.

In either event, remains my favorite TV series of all time . . . closely followed by Breaking Bad, Dexter, Game of Thrones, and Walking Dead (though Walking Dead to me is a slight notch down from the others)

I did. I particularly liked when they'd have a character who spoke in authentic Bawlmerese.

As a youngster, I always liked it when we were headed "downy ocean"

Breaking Bad is one of those series that I watched an episode or two of during the first season )not consecutively though I don't think) and it didn't really grab me. That was before I had or knew I had on-demand capabilities on cable. As it picked up steam and started to gain such praise, I like you didn't watch -- deciding I'd rather binge watch via DVD. It and Curb Your Enthusiasm are next to go into my queue on Netflix when room opens up.
Watched the first two episodes of Intruders, a new series on BBC America this weekend. Not quite sure about it yet, but I'll probably check out the next few episodes on demand when they become available to see if worth continuing.

Also caught up on the most recent couple of Halt and Catch Fire episodes -- the last one might have been season finale. If I didn't have on demand channels, I probably would have stopped watching this. Everytime it makes it to the "good" mark it then slips back to merely OK -- with the characters becoming too whiney.

In case you hadn't heard, The Bridge got cancelled a few weeks back, so we'll have to do with the two seasons. Although, I did think there was talk of it trying to find another home besides FX.

That was a decent show that just disappeared. My appreciation of Ian McShane still holds.

If you like Ian McShane, you may wish to check out Lovejoy - not dark at all, completely the opposite in fact, but lots of fun. Call it a guilty pleasure.
Likely stated here in previous posts, but my favorite series in the 2000 era (separated in levels):
Lost
Game of Thrones
Downton Abbey
Sopranos
Breaking Bad
The Wire
**********
Farscape
Heroes (1st 2 seasons)- worst collapse of a show I've ever witnessed.
Battlestar Galactica
Monk
Wallander
Mad Men
Deadwood
************
Arrested Development
Firefly
Boardwalk Empire
Dr. Who
Homeland
**************
Samurai Jack
Smallville
Supernatural
Carnivale
*************
Reno 911
The Venture Bros.
Workaholics
Trailer Park Boys

(Walking Dead & Vikings on binge-tap)

Actually what it does in season two is one of the boldest moves in serial television. However, if you don't see its greatness after a few episodes of season one, I'm afraid it's not going to happen.

Ok. Like I said, I enjoy it and think its very good but it just hasn't hooked me like Breaking Bad did.

I agree with this assessment.

I recently watched The Wire and, while I thought it was very good, for me, it didn't measure up to Breaking Bad.

I found that the characters just weren't as compelling, or entertaining. I much preferred Walter and Skyler White, Jesse Pinkman, Hank Schrader, Saul Goodman, Mike Ehrmantraut, Todd, and Gustavo Fring, to McNulty, Bunk, Avon Barksdale, Daniels, Greggs, Omar, and Marlo Stanfield.

Ultimately, Bryan Cranston's masterful performance trumps everything.
I've tried a couple of times to start Breaking Bad and it never seems to stick. I'm sure I will just have to push through the first season and it will grab me.

The Wire on the other hand had me hooked from day one. Some of my favorite characters ever on tv are McNulty, Omar, Stringer, Marlo and Snoop. Chris was great too. Dude was ice cold.
