Lee Roy was arguable the greatest player to ever wear the 'Crimson & Cream' for the Sooners.

I saw four out of the five OU Heisman Trophy winners play, and Lee Roy was the greatest player I ever witnessed play, and without debate with all due respect to the Heisman winners.

At one time, Lee Roy was the only member of the College Hall of Fame, the College Academic Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I'm not sure that is still the case, but impressive nevertheless.

I watched every down he played while winning two National Championships at OU, and he was later named to the All Century team in college football.

In the pros, he was the defensive player of the year, and also named to the all decade team from the 80's in the NFL.

Clearly one of the all time greats in football, both college and pro, but Lee Roy always said being named to the All Academic Team was his greatest award.

The Sooner Nation mourns his loss. Frown
