I will be visiting Spain in October and have a full day in Priorat and a second full day in Rioja dedicated to wine tasting and tours. Can you recommend 3 bodegas that are must visits in each area?
Mas Martinet, Vall Llach, Cellers Scala Dei (monastery next door), Clos Mogador.
Go to Haro and walk from winery to winery stopping for lunch midday. Plenty of choices all within walking distance of each other such as Lopez de Heredia, Cune, Roda, La Rioja Alta, Muga, Cruzado, etc...
Don’t know anything about Priorat, but I like WIML’s Rioja suggestion. I would say Lopez is the biggest must and Roda would be my number 2. (Cune/CVNE, La Rioja Alta are the next two, but I haven’t actually visited either of those places.)
nice article about Spain in the current print issue.
WIML just went recently I believe -
Correct. First couple of weeks of July. Visited in order La Rioja, San Sebastian, Priorat and Barcelona.
I would add Mas Igneus to WIML's suggestions for Priorat.
I signed up for this forum several weeks ago. I am not sure why it took so long for approval and for this post to go live. In any event, I have already booked tastings/tours for Priorat. Clos Mogador, Mas Doix, Clos Figerus, and Merum Priorati over the course of 1.5 days. And we will be staying at Trossos del Priorat. What do you think?
