The post positions are drawn and the weather forecast is in.  The favorite will be Improbable, trained by Baffert, who has won a ton of Preakness races. The 4 post is a good place to be.  Hard to bet against a Baffert horse, and Mike Smith, a super rider, will ride him.

But, I like Alwaysmining.  Should go off at around 8 or 9 to 1.  The horse blew away the competition in some races, has great speed, has raced previously at Pimlico, and has won 6 races in a row. The Preakness favors speed.  If this horse starts well, he'll be on the lead and could go wire to wire.  The trainer, Ms. Rubley is on a hot streak and the rider is the same rider as he's had all along.  So, my money will be on Alwaysmining, a Maryland bred horse.

It might rain a bit on Friday (for the 16th consecutive Friday) but not enough to matter. By the time they saddle up for the Preakness in the late afternoon-early evening, the track will be fine and should be to everyone's liking.

With a large field, that could hurt horses that like to come from off the pace, another reason why a horse with early speed is a good choice.
