Back when I lived in Granada my mother who was vsiiting went to a restaurant where they served a cheap white wine WARM, refused to take it back to chill it (this is how wine should be drunk, señora) and refused to give my mother ice cubes to put into it (one does not put ice into wine, señora). When I arrived at the scene I ordered a glass of ice water and made a point of making the waiter notice we put those ice-cubes into the wine. The customer is always right. Especially when the waiter is an ass.

(We would have gone to another reastaurant but the scenery was breath-taking.)

While I under normal circumstances never would put ice into my wine, I think that provided I'm drinking a cheap quaffer that won't get any worse by a little bit of water I prefer that to the same wine that tastes of nothing but alcohol becuase it is way too warm.

but, gotta hand it to my lil' lady....she certainly gets points for creativity.

My in laws take a sip or two and then like to put Ginger Ale in the wine. A Red Wine Italian Spritzer if you will.

That is why they get the $6 CITRA and I wait for them to leave.

I have more to confess: I also like, when I´m out, to order white wine with soda/sprite. Refreshing, low in alcohol, and so muck nicer than beer!

Nowt wrong with a spritzer. Yquem and Red Bull is a great, but sweet, spritzer that anyone would like. Not too much ice though.
