They've gone from an already high corkage price of $90 a bottle to an astonishing high(to me) $150.
At first glance its gouging. However if you are bringing a quality bottle that you might have initially purchased for a couple of hundred dollars which has appreciated in value, that they might have on their list for a $1,000 or more, you are still ahead of the game by bringing your own.

Only flaw with this is that you can't bring anything they have on list

at that price, i'd bring in a bottle of hard liqour

or maybe i should be pretentious and bring in a bottle of mouton cadet.

I just choose to not give them my business. Their wine list is outrageously overpriced and the corkage is equally outrageous. Plenty of great restaurants in NYC that are far more wine friendly.

i dont see the phrase baller mode in the statement you made. #yolo =)

You say that you can't bring a bottle that's already on the list. I went to their website to check out their list. The website is under construction and neither the list nor the menu is available.
Anyway, I much prefer Jean Georges.

per se has a very deep list of trophy bottles

i would imagine that wouldn't be an excuse that they would allow you to bring a bottle they have when they would probably say, "you shoudl have called and asked"

and yes, I much prefer jean georges =)
I think the main complaint of the person who reported this was that the restaurant offered the service but did not tell them in advance that there would be a charge.

I went to Daniel in summer 2011 for the standard tasting menu with wine pairings. Food was quite good, wine pairings went with the food quite nicely, but were not good or great wines per se, but still very much enjoyed. Still, I think I preferred my visits to 11 Madison, but all of my visits were before they jacked up prices and corkage. Have always wanted to try Keller's cooking, after seeing a tv show with him cooking a 20 course tasting menu for Anthony Bourdain, Eric Ripert, and one other chef.

Brought a bottle of 2000 Krug to Nobu Malibu. I would discover that it was on their wine list (for over twice what I paid).

200% mark up seems very reasonable.

Actually, it was over 300%, which I think is within the realm of reasonability - just glad I didn't have to shell out that much coin.
