Pairing suggestions for over the top Australian Reds ????

I got into this discussion today with one of my customers, particularly concerning the 2002 MP Shiraz 9 and what kind of meal you'd pair with such an over the top, outrageously gooey bottle of Australian shiraz. After some pondering, we decided drinking them alone might be the best option.

What do you guys think?

I think they go well with red meat with a rich sauce, steak aux poivres for example.

Just one more sip.

I grilled leg of lamb can pair well with wines like this.

I also like the steak au poirve idea.

I agree with Whiner, a strong flavoured meat such as lamb or venison.

Board-O and whiner are both correct.

Either a strong flavoured red meat OR

Red meat served with a strong flavoured sauce. It can withstand the sauce being quite spicy.

especially with BBQ. For most shiraz, I choose overwhelming to go with a mediteranean dish. Merquez sausage (not sure if it spelled correctly), is a stunning combination.
