My first instinct would be Gewurtztraminer, and the two other whites already mentioned would be my next choices.
If you want something outside the envelope, if the cury is light and mild enough, Chateau Musar might be a very good match, or alternatively, an '03 Chateauneuf. Either should work with the soup and the rice, but curry is always... well, so curryish.
That's a new one for me. Never even heard of this soup. Are apricots fresh or dried? I'd make my selection based on that. The fresh ones will have a more subtle impact on soup's composition. I suspect this one is made with dried apricots (dried fruits is a tradition all across the Caucus region). Please let me know your impression of this soup, Irwin.
ahh yes, apricot and lentil soup. One of my favorites. I love a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon in mine. I recommend a pungent Santa Barbara California Syrah.
