Maybe that shootout win was the proberbial "turning the corner" for the Sharks. Not that I was able to see it mind you. Mad Since the Warriors game which followed the Sharks on FSN was blacked out in the Sacramento area (thanks to the crappy Kings), I couldn't record the event following the Sharks game like I usually do, so that I can watch in the case of overtime. Well, guess what? 1:20 left in the game and the recording stops. I was so ticked off.... Mad Mad Mad
I'm just glad my Blackhawks are over .500 so far this year. I'm sure enjoying the games so far - Kane and Toews are a blast to watch. Been a long time since we've had anyone like them in Chicago. Havlat is due to come back from his annual injury within the next two weeks. A new owner (same family - but Rocky has replaced his deceased father) and several home games on TV. So far, so good.

ouch, that might be the only SO win the Sharks have all year!! With the inconsistency on the team lately I don't know what to think. Actually, I think a lot has to do with Nabokov, he's given up some really lame shots. However, I am really suprised with JR, Setoguchi, and Mitchell. Even though it took Mitchell a while to score he's impressed me in every game with his speed and know-how. And Setoguchi!! Wow, I think he's stolen Cheechoo's spot in Thornton's bed! Eek

What are your picks?

Year after year, since the years of Bure, I've always been a Canucks fan. I think they are set this year.... Cool

Sniffing glue destroys brain cells. You need to stop doing it. The Sucks will struggle to be an 8 seed. Big Grin That said they probably will win tonight at home with the Wild playing last night and winding down a tour of Western Canada.
How about those Blackhawks? Beat the Redwings again - this time with the help of 3 shorthanded goals. The Wings only have 6 losses - 4 of them to the Blackhawks.

The beauty of having so many young kids on the team this year is that they don't know they're not supposed to be this good. Now it looks like the veterans are starting to buy in as well.

I know its early, but so far its fun to be a hockey fan in Chicago again.

Can we give you hasek? Come on, take him for free... Big Grin
Even if I don't like to see my Wings beaten by the Hawks, it is nice to finally see the United Center alive during hockey games. At least I got to cheer on Lang and Williams !!
I saw on the canucks board that about 2/3 of these idiots are moaning about the unfairness of Ohlund getting 4 games for breaking the tibia of the wild's best young center with a 2-handed chop.

Most think that 4 games is too long. Others think that Koivu should get a game or 2 for attempting (and missing) w/ an elbow.

Wednesday will be interesting. This rivalry had died down lately.

Still early, but hey, not looking so bad right now... Cool
What do I think? I think that I am pi$$ed for not going to bed, and instead staying up watching the game on tivo (at least the game that I watched live - Warriors-Kings - turned out pleasantly)....

I would primarily pin the blame on Nabokov simply based on the Sharks multi-year record in shootouts - but that is a bit of a slippery slope. From my perspective, the reason that Nabby is such a good goalie is his technical expertise. I think that this works against him in the shootout. It seems that a goalie needs to be a bit unorthodox in the shootout - and Nabby is far, far from unorthodox.
I wonder what Nabby's save % is in the shootout or penalty shots vs. other goalies.

Don't know what their problem is this year, not that they're doing bad, but not up to snuff. You can see it when they actually play good they dominate, but for the other 45 minutes of the game they don't do so good. At first I thought it was Nabby, his incosistent play has been bothering me for years, but despite his incosistencies the sharks still don't put up as many points as they should.
