2016 Little Wings Syrah; any suggestions on drinking window?

I had a bottle of the 2015 a few weeks after shipping with Sunnylea, Mangiare, Vinoevelo and VinT and it was good. Had a bottle two weeks and and it was better. I think release to 4-5 years out. Doesn't need to make old bones.

Thanks Rob - sounds good.

Dropped a small amount of money at K&L this afternoon:

  • 6 x  2014 Poggio Scalette Carbonaione
  • 2 x 2013 Francesco Rinaldi Brunate Barolo

The 2014 Carbonaione was discounted to $34 - I guess to make room for the 2015 vintage arriving shortly.

I think a lot of people may have steered away from the 2014's because it was known to be a difficult, cold and rainy vintage in Chianti.  However, Scalette's wines don't align well with vintage reports for Chianti.  They are located well above the valley floor and their position high up on the 'hill of Ruffoli' gives them a unique growing condition.

Last fall at Enoteca Fuoripiazza in Greve, a group of us including Jurij and Vittorio Fiore tasted the 2012, 2013 and 2014 vintages of Carbonaione side-by-side.  It was a bit revealing to find that we all preferred the 2014 vintage over the two others.

Agree re: not following the vintage charts for Il Carboniaone.  I bought 6 of the 2014s.
