Sorry to hear that.

How hot do you think your bottles got, and for how long?

85 degrees -for how long? Not sure - a day perhaps? We suspect that the temperature has been fluctuating more than we were aware for the last couple weeks though

I think it was hot for a couple weeks. There was a lot of damage and seeping. I mean weeping. Well, weeping over the seeping...

This is very sad to hear. You must have lost more than a few bottles that held a special importance to you. Hope at least that your insurance company deals fairly with you, and that a lot of it is replaceable without too much hassle.

We will see how the insurance situation shakes out. Meanwhile, i am a bit hesitant about auctions... I mean, what is to stop someone in the same situation as us, with competely cooked wine, but with no morals, to sell stuff?

We are likely starting all over putting away stuff to age. (we still have some stuff that were in other locations, but not too many...) This time in eurocaves. With wifi thermometers. And whatever other gadgets I can find, since this has been emotionally draining, to say the least.

Oops... This is FKG on JC's ipad....

PH, the '98 is also very nice.

I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

All were drinking very well with the Novy probably WOTN. The Gallo might be a little beyond its peak (not quite as good as bottle I opened 2 years ago). The Donna Olimpia did a nice imitation of a lower end Bordeaux. All were very good QPRs -- paid less than $30 for all of them -- with the Olimpia being a great QPR at the $20 I paid. I think I have one or two of those left, and interested in seeing how they develop.
