Hey SG, I've been flying under the radar for a while now (since, what, 2007 or so?), but thought of you and the ol' gang over the past few nights.
Enjoyed a 2003 Radio Coteau Timbervine last night, and tonight it was 2001 JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich Auslese (with lobster bisque). It reminded me of how difficult a time we had getting the R-C delivered after they got inundated with demand post-publication of their scores, and ... well, the Prum I got from that wine shop behind the Pancake Pantry in Nashville, thanks to your guidance.
These wines delivered as promised lo, those many years ago. I wish I could have gotten more R-C, but I'm thrilled to have another 25 or so cases of 2001-2 Rieslings. I guess it's time to start regularly enjoying these, as they seem to be hitting their prime.

Finishing up the last 1/3 of the bottle tonight. Really beautiful, clean fruit that doesn't get overpowered by the alcohol. Maybe the best 2011 napa I have tried.

The '98 is a beautiful wine. The '05 is still a beast and needs lots of air but will be a great VCC when it matures. I really enjoyed the '06 and I think it is an underappreciated vintage. The '11 is a better wine than Parker thinks. The '01 was my least favorite.

For those asking:
2004 Cerbaiona (Molinari) Brunello di Montalcino – Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (10/15/2014)
WIML91
Tasted non blind.
Dark garnet color in glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of light smoke notes, black berries, plums and black raspberries. Flavors of black raspberries, black berries and boysenberries. Tangy acidity, medium to firm tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold. (91 points)
Not to shabby for such a young wine. I think I'd lean more towards holding though.

Tonight, 2008 Quinta Do Vale Meao Meandro, which is still very dark but has softened quite a bit over the last couple of years, lots of plum and berry flavours, some mineral, long finish with very fine tannins. A delicious blend of mainly (85%) Touriga Nacional, Franca, and Roriz, though has little resemblance to any Port. Very nice wine.

g-man -- The 1989 Le Gay was fantastic. Youthful and fresh (Note: This bottle was purchased by my friend on release and stored in his cellar -- as were all of the red Bordeaux.), with currant, lead pencil and a touch of tobacco on the nose. Complex and balanced on the attack. The fruit is expressive and is bolstered by the secondary flavor development and integrated tannins that transition into a long finish. This went 'toe-to-toe' with the 1990 Pichon Baron. It was a tough call for WOTN. My preference was the PB, by a whisker. But, I certainly wouldn't quible with anyone who's preference leaned to the Le Gay.

A lot of great wine tonight (mostly Champagnes) but the WOTN for me was the 1998 Angelus.

Nice! You just answered my question in the other thread.

2000 Lynch Bages- oustanding with a long decant (Thanks, PH!) but seemed pretty ready to go right after decanting. Over 5 hours after decanting it hadn't lost anything
Best wines of the WSWE Grand Tasting:
2004 Unico
2010 Dominus (one of the best CA wines I have tasted in a long time)
2000 Montrose
2006 Masseto
2007 Fuligni Riserva
1999 Flaccianello
2005 Emidio Pepe Montipulciano d'Abruzzo
2009 d'Yquem
2010 Lynch Bages
2011 Gaja Sori San Lorenzo
Biggest diappointments:
2004 Dom Perignon
2010 Sassicaia
1994 Ridge (think I tasted an off bottle)
2008 Cerretalto
2008 Montosoli
2010 Harlan Estates
2011 Spottswoode
2011 Bruno Giacosa Falleto
Got to see a few people I have not seen in years. Always a good event. Would be better if numbers were more limited.

2005 Peter Michael L'Esprit des Pavots - a big but balanced wine that I think will be better with a few more years of sleeping.

2001 Pavie - opened this morning and decanted for 3 hours. I'm liking everything about this wine so far.
Longboarder, I'd be interested in anything you could add to the 2010 Sassicaia. Everything I've read has been positive. Thanks.
