There should be no date.
Mine does not have a date...
It's the same as a gift card.

I got a gift card with a value of 15% of the amount I purchased on Sunday that I can use the next time I buy at the SAQ.

The only limitation was to purchase a minimum of $100.00

So, if you bought $100.00 you should of received a gift card worth $15.00 that you can apply the next time you shop.

Voila !

Mine says "Carte-Cadeau Halloween exchangeable a partir du 1er Novembre 2007" on the front."

There's a bunch more stuff on the back but the line containing Nov. 1 is:
"Les cartes-cadeaux promotionnelles doivent etre presentees lors de l'achat et sont echangeables contre de la marchadise, en succursale seulement, et ce, uniquement a partir du 1er novembre 2007."
WEc,

Here is the translation:

"The promotional gift cards must be presented at the time of purchase and are valid as credit towards any in-store purchases only, and this only as of November 1st, 2007."
Last purchase for October through the Tobin James Wine Club that arrived yesterday:

2006 Tobin James Zinfandel Charisma
2006 Tobin James Sauvignon Blanc Sundance
2005 Tobin James Refosco James Gang Reserve
2005 Tobin James Tempranillo James Gang Reserve
2005 Tobin James Cabernet Sauvignon Silver Reserve
2005 Tobin James Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah James Gang Reserve
2005 Tobin James Zinfandel RRV
2005 Tobin James Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard

Great over the top fruit filled wines, and a steal at $145 plus shipping. Check their club out...you even get a nice little gift. This allocation was a glass cutting board with one of their wine logo....probably won't get a lot of use, but still a nice little gift.

WEc- Some times these sales are posted ahead of time by the SAQ. The better sales spread 'word of mouth' a couple of months ahead of time, often by the retailers, to their good customers.

The SAQ notifies 'special releases' ahead of time in their 'Cellier' Magazine. I'd suggest you request being on the mailing list. As well, it's always good to be on the mailing list for the SAQ Signature (simply request them directly) to find other 'special releases' only there.

Each retailer will be more than happy to add you to their 'mailing list' and each one occasionally offers individual sales as well.

Thanks for that info. I've only been in Ontario for a couple years and was only in the past weekend that I made it up to Quebec and had any experience with the SAQ and more particularly interested in any sale that they may have. I already have a sufficient amount of difficulty navigating the SAQ site. Red Face

So when you speak of each "retailer" offering individual sales, are you speaking of individual SAQ stores? Confused They have such idiosyncratic authority?

In general, I found prices in the SAQ pricey but I did find some 02 Dufort Vivens on sale for $30. Quite a bit lower than what the LCBO would sell it for. But then again, I also bought a few 01 Haut-Bailly for $70. Frown

Not quite sure of the details of such idiosyncratic authority. However, there does seem to be some room for such things some times.

Like any where, you've got to educate yourself to pricing between the two systems (at least you got the net for this)

Thanks! I really appreciate this info. My hopes is to fully "exploit" the two systems. lol.... I do, however, find that pricing at the SAQ to be not "fully" transparent. Their sale items don't always seem to be represented as such. The internet is a great tool!

Cheers!

Actually they really ARE fairly transparent. You've just got to accustom yourself to their 'system'. Just a few are:

1) Most often, I find things go on sale for a short, defined, period of time. That sale is often (as of late) a 'gift card' for future purchases, as this last sale was. Once a year, the SAQ often has a 'scratch' sale, in which one scratches off a ticket to find the amount of the discount. However, this has been suspect at times to certain customers getting the 'max discount' tickets Roll Eyes

2) Permanently reduced items will show up when you 'search' an item and they show up 'out of order' in a 'decending price' listing. When you open the selection, it will show the MSRP and 'reduced' price.

Just a couple items to get you started Wink

lol.. This is great info! A liquor store that acts like the Bay. Scratch and save... Big Grin

I don't know what kind of sales they have but I saw online that the durfort vivens was $30 but when I was at the store with the inventory the price (on the shelf and on the bottle) was undiscounted. There were no signs of that particular discount. I got it, nevertheless, when I checked out (plus the 15% Halloween card thing).

But, again, thanks for the info! Cheers!!! Big Grin

This reminds me of one last thing:
IF you happen to see an item stickered for one price, and the actual price is higher, You will not only will be given the lower price, but also $10 additional off your sale, as an appology for the error.

Better than a kick in the pants Wink
I purchased a bottle of 2004 Brancaia Chianti Classico, not long ago, for $15 due to this...
