I am complaining about the treatment of new people here. I am a subscriber to the WS, both the magazine and online and first it tood me two weeks to "be approved" and now after 3 days, they have not posted my first post. Let's see where this goes - I don't have time to deal with this so if this is how it is, I will just piss off. -- very bad business.

I read your first post.

So what's the problem?
I think he wants the red carpet treatment when he wants to sell his wines because he is the only one who has them or because every new seller without any track record should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Your first post is below this one by a few lines & it looks like it's 3 days old, so I'd vote for "just piss off".

Is your complaint that no one responded or that you think you're being conspired against by those who run this board? Perhaps the best way to be accepted when you are new somewhere is not to come on with a complaint? Just a thought.
I tried to sell my wines and nobody responded. My feelings were not hurt.

When people with no history come on here hyping wines or they seem like retailers in disguise, they get called on their BS.

If they keep trying they eventually sell a few of their wines.
Sounds to me like it just took Robert a little time to approve his sign up and first post. I believe that's the way the forum works nowadays to cut down on trolling.
i was gonna go with "go F yerself", but yours works too. Smile

I can see how Wineski would be upset. When I joined the WS Forums, Marvin Shaken himself flew me to New York on a Gulfstream IV and let me use the computer in his office to make my first post. Then, I received a gold-engraved copy of the post, along with a case of 1961 Cheval Blanc. After that, Wine Spectator gave me an all-expense-paid 6 month tour of vineyards in France, Italy and Spain.

Boy, those were the good old days...

I like the Piss off comment, it is less rude than go F yourself

I am preferential to "blow it our your arse"....
This is so disrespectful to a new member, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. The guy is probably just trying to make an honest living out of scamming foolish wine buyers. Do you know how inconvenient is it to wait 3 days to reply a new buyer while your last victim blows the whistle on you ?

Wineski I am totally with you on this one. I know this sucks to have your trading posts neglected. I literately spiraled into depression after nobody wanted to trade my WOTY piss for a 1961 Petrus.
A shot in the dark...

Perhaps the ill-treatment you feel you have received is due to the fact that the vast majority of new forum members, such as yourself, simply look to make a quick buck, rather than actually contribute something to this online community.

Just a thought...

Oh, and piss off.
Wineski,

Dont get upset. A couple weeks ago I sold some wine and got 67 responses from people who thought I was crazy for my asking price or thought people were stupid for paying it. In the end I sold it. Lots of people here with different opinions.

AV
O.K. Wineski. You've now seen how NOT to join into the forum. I'd suggest you back out, change your user name and come back in a bit more easy.

Step at a time, son. Step at a time. Wink

(Oh! And if you're just lookin' to use this site to hawk wine.....well, then piss off)
Wineski, just hang out for a few weeks, bash some innocent users and you will have the credibility needed to make your sales.

I didn't remember that delay, but it sure seems like a great idea!

I think I originally signed up as Utah5 around 1997 or 1998, when they were running that first generation forums software. The new software started October 18, 2001, but does anyone remember when Wine Spectator first opened these Forums? Confused
Make that October 17th. Vino Me was #7, Vitis Vinifera was #19, Board-O was #69 and JimmyV was # 96.
