This the second time we picked up a restaurant right near the famous and old execution place, the first time it happened in Berlin.

The name of the restaurant is
Domhuskealderen
(ae is not what the Dannish sign said, but I don't have this letter on my keyboard)
just outside of the old courthouse. Nytorv 5. phone 45 33 14 84 55

The first sign was scarry - EVERYBODY inside spoke English and no locals.

But...the food was EXCELLENT, I had chopped herring with blinies for appetizer, Sue had smoked salmon, which was out of this world.

My second was pan fried plaice, fresh out of the water, with sauce to die for and Sue had a traditional pork slices with red cabbage.
We tasted 3 aquavits EACH,
(Birger, have we passed the "good Dannish" test?)

1) Aalborg Dild
with hint of dill

2) Aalborg Taffel
with strong caraway presence

3) Aalborg Krone
with carawya, dill and "exotic spices"

Life is good! I recomend this place highly!

That's actually a good sign. Danish food is dreadful.

...only if you try matching it with Reds.
(actualy, pork liver pate with bacon pieces on top or baked pork with crackling salty crust is not bad with reds)

I love fish and fish dishes and I am in Heaven.
(and stay in Nordhavn, which is right on the ocean)

I am not really planning on travelling to Nordway anytimne soon but thanks for suggestion. Are you going to have any reindeer jerky? My friend is from Lapland and he smugles it everytime he goes home. What a treat! I am sure they have reindeer steaks too.
