We just got word through an inside source that the state owned monoply of liquor stores in Pennsylvania, beginning on Jan 1 2008, will only allow wines into their system that have UPC bar codes on the bottle. Does anybody have an idea of how many wineries around the world do not use this identification system? It seems to me there are an awful lot of wines out there that do not use UPC bar codes. Most or all of the bigger producers do, but many small wineries don't. It seems to me that this will cut a lot of superior product out of shelf space in PA and deny the Pennsylvania consumers access to it. Anybody have a take on this?
