it's the continuation of a dribble movement and it's part of the new rules.

it's the one alot of old timers like to complain about that if havlicek where playing in today's game, he'd be a master dribbler.

Raptors fans got a bit of a reality check last night. I knew the Cavs were better, I just didn't realize how much better. That was impressive.

I thought the Cavs might be rusty and the Raps might be riding the high of Game 7, but it was clear that the Cavs were a well-rested and well-oiled machine while the Raps were spent. They couldn't keep up with the Cavs' energy. Their defensive effort was non-existent. As for their offence, they couldn't find their way into the paint, and their perimeter shooting was sub-par.

I think Game 2 will be better, but it's hard to say by how much.

Id be shocked if the NBA allowed GS to go down 2-0

Yeah, the Warriors will be getting the calls tonight. But if KD improves his shooting percentage, OKC will have a chance in the final 2 minutes.

I didn't account for KD's turnovers. That was just sloppy performance. I'm glad I didn't counter TPE's offer with 15 points!

well the ticky tack calls dont help either

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:15600161

beautiful shot from ig, but that was no foul
OKC didn't lose Game 2 b/c the refs were helping GS. They got their butts kicked by the return of "video game Steph" along with solid performances by almost everyone else on the roster (Klay, Iggy and Livingston were the main guys who played below their usual level).

All the pressure is on OKC for Game 3. Should be a competitive game this Sunday.

Watch that vid again from the overhead view. Westbrook makes contact with Iggy's leg as he flies by. NBA gives more protection to guys when they're in a "defenseless position" like Iggy was. He's not rendered off balance there b/c he's clumsy or he hit a swarm of mosquitoes in mid-flight. Westbrook didn't protest the call at all. Clear foul.

There was no leg hit.

Dude, just b/c your court game is clumsy doesn't mean everyone else in the NBA is at a similar level. Razz

As TPE points out, the video shows there was contact by Westbrook that was forceful enough to have knocked Iggy off balance. The human body is incapable of changing directions in mid-air, unless a secondary force is applied to it. Iggy, while not at his peak, isn't that far removed from his peak and is still a world-class athlete. He's not going from in control to so off balance he takes his eyes off the rim, throws the ball up and focuses all of his attention instead on cushioning his fall b/c of trying to execute a double pump layup.

that is completely incorrect.

it's the calls throughout the game that drives potentially the way the game is played.

unfortunately we as humans prefer to highlight only the last 2 minutes in deciding whether or not we were robbed.

G-Man really? You think NBA games are ever called fair and even? I have a unicorn for you and will split this great offer I have for $10 million free and clear from Nigeria with you if you do.

Basically the foul calls were flip flopped game 1 to 2. Personally I think the NBA goal in game one was just keep OKC close then the Warriors funked it up at the end. I don't think the refs meant to give it to OKC, the Warriors just folded.

Game two was a 'slight' advantage given to the Warriors and I know the count was 32 -19 but Curry gets fouled 5 times that are not called every game, so that's slight. Result is a blow out. In a fair called game, and there is no such thing in the NBA, the Warriors win every game by 20, and people stop watching after half time at game 3.

The NBA NEVER wants tv ratings to drop after game 3, they want them going up. Like I said a few pages back, I don't think they are fixing every series like they used to, but they keep every series close and 'competitive'.

That was not my point remotely - my point was that your individual review of fouls is a ridiculous and useless exercise as similar BS calls happen in every quarter of every game - it is up the players to deal with that and the BS calls at the end of the game are the ones that cannot be overcome by players due to the lack of time and end-game of it. Picking specific plays not at the end of the game to analyze whether called correctly is a complete waste of time although it is your time so feel free to waste as much of it as you want

which is why if you said the series are going to 5, i would have took that bet.
Midway through the Cavs season, they looked like a dysfunctional group of individuals. Now they look like a Team. Lebron is not doing his usual 'not get back on defense while complaining about a bad call' act. His body language is 100% all in.

As TPE said last night, the East may not be strong, but 10-0 start is impressive.

Sheesh. A little harsh.

Hopefully wrong as I'm going to tomorrow's game.

For the Raps to win, they need Lowry to hit 3s and not turn it over. Even then it will be tough.

Oh yeah, they'll likely get more calls at home.

I'm still hoping they can win 1 game.

Not happy to see a blow out but rather that than not be there at all. Should we hate the team or something? They're growing and improving. That's a good thing, last time I checked.
Based upon what was going on even at the end of the regular season, I really didn't know what the Cavs would look like in the playoffs and if they would be able to deal with the West.

Obviously, something has changed.

If the other shoe doesn't drop -- and it still might -- but if it doesn't, I think they have a strong possibility of taking it all and bringing the first major sports championship to Cleveland in over 50 years.
The GS and Cavs final will be great viewing.

The entire playoffs has been painful to watch as a Raptors fan. As much as I love them, this team just doesn't have backbone. They manned up just enough to squeak through to the Eastern Finals, but the Cavs are showing up the Raps' weaknesses for all to see. We might win one of the next two games - if we have one of our "inspired" streaks and it lasts a full 48 minutes - but that's about the best I can hope for.

Have been reading the Cavs are eating together, laughing together, etc. Also adding depth with Frye has been able to make a positive change in spreading the floor. They are more of a team now and healthy as a result of improved depth.

The Warriors and OKC will beat up each other. The Cavs will likely be favored as both of the western finalists are currently playing hurt.

Go Warriors.

Well, there was an inspired 48 minutes at both ends. Great performance by the Raps.
I think this game showed how to beat the Cavs, unfortunately.

Psychological warfare. Make Kyrie become a passer and make LeBron score 40. They hate those roles. When LeBron is playing point-forward and Kyrie is playing shooting-guard-with-unusual-ball-handling-skills the Cavs are incredible; but if you make Kyrie a passer he may simply not adapt. And LeBron is almost too much of a team player.

Cavs were do for a clunker, hopefully they got it out of their system. Toronto played great, but can they get another 26 rebound effort out of Biyombo? Unlikely.

Game Four will tell if it was a one game fluke or if Toronto is going to turn this into a series

Lebron has never won a championship in Cleveland. He joined a winner in D Wade and surrounded himself with other stars (Bosh).

He went back to Cleveland to try bring a championship there and secure his place as an all time great...maybe the greatest ever. Again, he has surrounded himself with nice pieces.

So far, his legacy will not eclipse Kobe or MJ unless he wins another championship.

And yes...I saw it right in front of me..Lebron did not want to take Biyombo 1 on 1 last night.

Watching a game live can give you a better perspective.

Have fun rooting for Leflop!

Lol.

If you read back on my posts, you'll see that I think the Cavs take the series. My opinion has never changed. The Cavs shot poorly last night and the Raps played inspired basketball.

You'll also note that you defended a poster that said "The Raps do not have a prayer of winning a game in this series". Perhaps you should reconsider having defended that post.

Not putting any money on it...but am hoping for both series to be tied at 2 by tomorrow night.

Coming on here to gloat after the fact when you refused to put your money where your mouth was before the game is more than a little ridiculous and is entirely disingenuous. Your team won a game no one expected them to (even you otherwise you would have take TPE's bet), which was even more impressive given the officiating. Maybe just be happy about that.

Sorry...I don't bet anonymous sports authorities on the internet.

Btw, it was your ridiculous statement that started this all!

The Raps continue to confound me. I would have taken TPE's bet, but I didn't have a clue which Raps team would show up last night. I'm not surprised they won, but I also wouldn't have been surprised if they had crumbled.

They were helped by the Cavs inability to shoot 3s for the first two thirds of the game, but give them credit for keeping the Cavs to a perimeter game. And also for a complete offensive effort, in the paint and on the perimeter.

The Cavs run to start the 4th was inevitable, but I was impressed with the poise the Raps showed and how Lowry and DeRozan answered back, shot for shot.

Can they keep up that level of play away from the ACC? Wednesday will be interesting.

Of course that's it. It was because of anonymity and the internet, not because you didn't have any faith in your team and wanted to wait for the result to make your opinion known Roll Eyes

My statement was not ridiculous. Turns out it was wrong, but that doesn't make it ridiculous. If you saw something (and you clearly didn't given your actions/your inaction) that gave you the impression the Raptors had a hope after games 1 and 2, you must have been clairvoyant because there was nothing indicating anything but a Cleveland sweep.
Surprised by the Raptors but nice to see them show they deserve to be there - better effort than the Heat could have given - and that crowd was awesome

Horrendous coaching by Lue. Good intensity on defense and nice to see Lowry and Derozian (spelling I have not idea how to spell his name) get hot.

That Biyambo block on LeBron which they called a foul on was pretty impressive - I thought it was not a foul but whatever

Surprisingly for a Cleveland fan, I haven't stepped even close to the edge. I give a ton of credit to Toronto for stepping up these last two games, especially Lowery, who I thought was soft.

Cleveland is falling too much in love with the 3s, they need more post up play from Love and Lebron. IF Cleveland loses tomorrow, count me worried then.

On another note, apparently you can kick a dude in the nuts and get away with it. As long as rulings like these continue, the NBA will have a credibility problem and the conspiracy nuts will have ammo for their arguments.
Prior to the game, Lebron said he had a game plan for himself for game 4, and afterwards in the post-game interview a reporter said that the game plan didn't seem drastically different from the previous game. He asked Lebron if he played the way he wanted to.

Lebron's answer:

"I think I played to the game plan I wanted to play, both offensively and defensively. For me, I gave everything I had in the 46 minutes that I played. Both offensively and defensively I felt great. I tried to get my guys involved, get myself involved, but my individual game plan was pretty good."

Perhaps I'm inferring meaning here when there is none, but I thought the last sentence was telling - the use of the words "tried" and "individual".

There was a time I think I'd heard of the NBA but I can't seem to ever find anything NBA on the schedule of events at the Amalie Arena in Tampa....so I do wonder if said NBA exists anymore. I mean a real league wouldn't fail to put a team in the 2nd largest metropolitan area of the 3rd largest state would they?

While true, that market has only itself to blame for that as it historically had 1 and for a brief time had 2...and I guess one day might have 2 again.

Then again, I'm glad I'm not a resident of Orlando or Miami as they were dumb enough to fund the cost of 2 arenas each to support their NBA franchises since the original arenas (which were practically identical) were outdated the day they opened.

Anybody who watches sports knows that nearly anything can happen at any time.

When you make a black and white statement with regards to a sports outcome, you're being ridiculous.

It did not even matter if the Raps won or not.

Your statement right of the bat was ridiculous.

Cleveland is the far superior team but some things have conspired to make this a more interesting series as well as Toronto taking advantage of some flaws Cleveland was able to hide in RD 1 & 2 against far inferior opponents. Cleveland was red hot and has cooled off. Lowry was cold and has heated up. I don't think the opponent had anything to do with either of them. Simple regression to the mean.

Cavs aren't a very good defensive team, especially Irving and Love. Go read Zach Lowe's latest article. Irving is getting abused. So is Love. Cleveland has no rim protection. This was going to be a problem at some point against a decent offense.

Watching Lowry blow by Irving and Smith was awesome

Don't be a hater because your pretender team is getting exposed by this super awesome Toronto team. Razz

And when you never offer a definitive prediction and only operate with the benefit of hindsight, you're never wrong, but you're also being wishy-washy at best and have given up any the right to gloat about a result over those that did.

When on, he cannot be stopped. When off, he can destroy his own team. He has been on for the good for OKC and bad for the W's.

I wish the W's were winning but you have to hand it to OKC and Billy D - although I still hate the owners of that team
