Wow, I had no idea that hunting mushrooms was so dangerous. Perhaps they should make this a new spinoff for Deadliest Catch: Fungi Edition.

I'd call that less a "massacre" than "thinning the herd". Stomping around in the darkness, and falling off cliffs? 
I don't know of any recent deaths, but I have heard of hunters of "certain types" of mushrooms in rural areas around here, being shot at for tresspassing on private property.
