"BlacKkKlansman" 70pts. (69 plus a bonus point for Alec Baldwin at the beginning of the movie) Clumsy and obvious. Sledgehammers the message.
Alpha - nice story, very beautiful visual film. Made me want to go home and pet my pups.

The Shape of Water
This won the Oscar for best picture???? Really?
Lady Bird
OK. I'm sure I would have liked it a lot more if I was 30 years younger.
A Quiet Place
Probably scarier on a big screen. I saw it on a plane.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer
Also viewed on a plane and I didn't get to see the last 15 minutes. Very strange and disturbing film with Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman that I'd never heard of before. When I get the chance I will watch again.
Crazy Rich Asians
My Left Foot
Beirut
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
This was much better than an updated version of The Creature From the Black Lagoon.
Two Days, One Night
Through a Glass Darkly--96pts. Harriet Andersson, what greatness.

I recently saw her in The Deadly Affair
An actress that never wanted makeup.
The finest films on my 250 inch home cinema projector screen, with popcorn produced from my estate corn field, and butter churned from our estate pasture raised cows, naturally!
Cheers!

Seems like overkill just for Porky's II.

This asshole in response to the #metoo movement, "I laugh, absolutely! I will have you know, Mr Hardy [sic] hardly stands a chance at feeling my Double D's, positively..."
You are a pig. Time to stop this unfunny, and in this case insensitive, routine.

TOM, he enjoys getting a reaction. If no one responded, he'd go away.

I know, but after pathetically satirizing the important #metoo movement, and knowing that this person appears to have no conscience, you'd hope that one or two of his followers would tell him it's time to hang up this unfunny act.
"A Simple Favor"
Really enjoyed this film. Predictable in parts but impossible to anticipate all the twists and turns. Perfectly cast as well. Did I mention it stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively?
Phantom Thread
Not bad. Saved by another excellent performance from Daniel Day-Lewis.
The 15:17 Train to Paris - good real story, but I was wondering why the acting was so bad. Doh! The heroes played themselves in the movie.
7 Days in Entebbe - much better acting; interesting perspectives from the hijackers to the Israeli special forces to the passengers and to the Israeli cabinet making the decisions to rescue them.
Kingsman: The Secret Service. love this one!
Solaris (1972)
Trippy.
It looks like the best version of all, The 1968 Russian Television version is no longer available on Youtube.
Animal House
287th time. Still funny.

No need to wait when "you know a guy"....
Julie & Julia
This was better than I expected. Of course they had to squeeze the Aykroyd skit in there, which always makes me laugh.
Hearts of the West
With a young Jeff Bridges, Andy Griffith and Blythe Danner. The latter looked a lot like Gwyneth Paltrow back then. Not bad.
Le Confessional
Very good, but not a happy film. Now I need to watch I Confess.

Seems you would say Gwyneth looks a lot like her mom....
Suspiria, Inferno and Mother of Tears. I look forward to the Suspiria remake.

I enjoyed both. Deadpool 2 was funnier than the first. If you liked the first definitely see it. If y oi u did not I would skip it.
I also liked Solo. Not deep or a masterpiece but a fun movie. Good cast. I hated Rogue One which I also saw on a plane but enjoyed Solo. Made fight go by quickly
Arabesque
Sophia Loren, campy, Gregory Peck on drugs, some hilarious dialogue, Sophia Loren...entertaining.
Ravenous
A somewhat over the top dark comedy about cannibalism. Good soundtrack. Not bad. Guy Pearce is irritating as usual.

Good to know. I assumed I’d like Deadpool 2 for mindless fun. Didn’t know abot Solo. Thanks!

JC, see if CEBO has any cancellations for dinner while you are in Madrid. We ate there this week and were duly impressed. If you can’t get in ( extremely difficult) grab something at Glass Mar around 10:00 PM at their bar.
Safe travels....
The Thing. Classic
Rothko posted:The Thing. Classic
Of the three, which one? I'm guessing the 1982. There is one thing that elevates Howard Hawks' (full title) The Thing from Another World above it is that the ending doesn't suck.
The 1982 movie. Yes, the special effects are not quite up to current standards, but the movie does a great build-up, and the tension is visceral.

Their movement toward modernization is quite something and portends well for the world.
Saw this post while searching for something else. While I suppose state sponsored assassinations are part of the modern world, I'm not sure it portends well for the world.
