My new FOTY.

Benjamin Button. I was quite surprised. I didn't even really want to see it initially but I thought it was a pretty good flick. Don't think I'd go so far and say it's an Oscar winner but still pretty entertaining.

I just loved it Joe, a fantastic movie. Even though I started making Forrest Gump comparisons about 1/3 of the way through (found out afterwards it was the same script-writer). Still, very happy Slumdog won best picture. Not my pick, but it was worthy.

Funny you should mention Forest Gump. In the car on the way home from the movie my son says "It was Forest Gump with an old guy instead of a retard".

Plan 9 and Killer Tomatoes need to be watched only after ingesting certain substances. At which point they are MUCH more enjoyable than Lawrence of Arabia! Not that I'd really know, of course....

Not a bad movie, simplistic but if you like wine you will enjoy it. Best enjoyed with a nice bottle though.

Saw this last night (not an Oscar fan), and I agree with duck833. Simplistic, but not as bad as everyone made it out to be. You just have to remember that it is VERY loosly based on reality. My daughter and I shared a Moscato d'Asti while watching it.
Has anyone ever tried wine by the Gustavo character? At the end, it said he started his own winery.

Agreed. Her character must be a freak show in bed, because both my wife and I thought she wasn't good-looking enough for the role. Good looking, yes, good enough looking to pull both Dent and friggin' Bruce Wayne, nah.

Ouch! That’s the harshest thing I have read from you….but I like it!

dannyk8232 - Ditto. I like her as an actress despite being miscast in Dark Night, but she does have the droopy skin melting thing going on.

I couldn't say it better myself. I just feel she was completely miscast...she's MUCH better in movies like Stranger than Fiction.

Oh, and I saw the International last week with my Mommy on her birthday. It was really entertaining, and didn't try to make you feel stupid. It was simple, yet very smart. Highly recommended.

Thx for the link. I've always liked Norm's comedy. I secretly wish the Stern show would dump Lange, and add MacDonald (or Adam Carolla).

Norm is easily one of my favorite comedians, I've seen his stand up twice now and have been in physical pain from laughter both times. He's one of those guys that you either love or you hate.

Tomorrow I'm going to see Seven Pounds at the $2 theatre.

SPOILER ALERT:

Yes, Maggie Gyllenhall does detract from the movie; but on a positive note, she does get blown up. Once you look at her after reading the "face melting" comments here, you really do get the feeling that she was with Indiana Jones when they opened the Ark, but she forgot to close her eyes...



Back to the Dark Knight: Does anyone think that the Joker switched the detonators on the boat, so that if one of the crews had pushed the button, they would have blown themselves up? That seems much more in keeping with his character.
