I enjoyed the movie. There are scenes which are not for the faint of heart, as you get an indepth picture of some of the atrocities which have taken place as a result of rebel groups financed by "conflict diamonds". Frankly, you get the impression (much like watching Black Hawk Down or Hotel Rwanda) that some countries in Africa are simply hopeless; and that the lives in these countries are, as Thomas Hobbes said: "nasty, brutish, and short."

I liked Leonardo DiCaprio in this movie (I'm not one of his biggest fans), and I liked Djimon Hounsou as well (although there were certain scenes with him that drove me crazy since the character did not always act rationally).

I would recommend watching.

Saw the movie "W".
A blend of truth and fiction, but you can't tell what is true and what is phony. I am sure some people think it is all true, and that irritates me.
I'd like to see Oliver Stone do a movie about Ted Kennedy, with truths, half-truths, and lies.

Saw Bill Maher's Religulous. Very, very funny. Equally irreverent toward all the major religions.

27 Dresses - I must be very in touch with my feminine side, I really liked it.

The Incredible Hulk - A solid movie.

Apocalypse Now

Rounders (for about the 25th time). Great story and acting... I really love this flick.

Has anyone seen Quantum Solace yet? If so, how does it compare to Casino Royale?

Apocalypto. The Mayan version of Braveheart. I wouldn't be eating anything red with this movie.

I'm not at all a fan of Mel Gibson, but Apocalypto is a great movie.

Hitman - Not really an arthouse movie, but I really liked it.

Saw Sling Blade the other night... haven't seen it in a long time and was glued to the TV. For reasons I'm still trying to figure out, this one's in my Top Ten of all time.

Just saw Changeling. Loved it, 3 1/2 stars. Not oscar-worthy, but it's paced much like Million Dollar Baby, and I hope Eastwood lives to be 150, so I can keep enjoying his films. IMO, he'll be spoken of in the same breath as Allen, Truffaut or Kurosawa in the history books.

Indy, I saw the movie on release, and think I enjoyed it more this time around, perhaps due to being 17 years older.

I did see similarities with Crash, but think the goal of each movie was different.

How about you...

Interesting. While most did love it, I was never a big proponent of Crash, and thought it to be an R-Rated ABC After School Special; a retooling of the better (IMO, ) GC. In other words, nothing new. But it has been many years, worth seeing both again.

How did the goal differ for you with these films?
