From a bootleg copy I got somewhere. Not readily available on VHS or DVD as far as I know, and that's a shame. Biographical account of L. Frank Baum with John Ritter and Annette O'Toole. Watching it just reminds me what a born performer Ritter was. What a hole he left in Hollywood when he died so young.

A Man for All Seasons

A Serious Man, by the Coen Brothers.

An ok movie, but nothing to get excited about. The first 10 minutes is in Yiddish with subtitles, and I understood little of the Yiddish which pissed me off. And, so far as I can tell, that vignette has nothing to do with the rest of the movie, which ended oddly.

The more I think about it, the less I liked it.

I wondered if anyone else was able to figure out the meaning of that beginning vignette. I didn't get it.

Exceptional. The best movie I had never before seen, that I have seen in many months.

It won't hold up over time. There are plays on the personas of both Ricky Gervais and Robert DeNiro, but man is this movie a breath of fresh air. It crept up on me, I was bored the first 15 or 20 minutes, then all of the sudden I found myself engrossed. The pacing at times is a bit slow, especially near the end, but overall, aside from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, this may be the best fairy tale / fantasy film in the English language since LOTR.

The Cowboys.

McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

Hard to think that Leonard Cohen's music is now 40 years old.

Pretty good.

Saw "City Island"- stars Andy Garcia and Julianna Margolies.
I like it a lot. (so did acaronianasa who noted this in an early post).

Movie is funny and has terrific acting. Well written script. One of the best movies I've seen in 2010.
