"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

"Man som hatar kvinnor"

A Swedish film, subtitled, and it was excellent!

A mystery thriller with multiple resolves, and a very challenging plot. I believe this might be the first installment of a trilogy, and you can bet I won't miss them. Highly Recommended!

Also, there might be a USA production in 2012, starring Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, or George Clooney. I think it is currently in development.

I'm just about finished reading the sequel to this book, The Girl Who Played with Fire. I plan to circle back around and read first book next. Didn't realize there was a movie out. I'll be curious to see how my interpretation of Lisbeth compares to the movie persona.

Also, watched Daybreakers this afternoon. It was ok, but did keep my attention the entire time.

LOL.....Clicky......LOL.

I remember your post about it...and for some reason I am intrigued when people say something is so bad (as if it can't really be THAT bad). For anyone else who has the guts to watch that movie, GA was 100% correct. It amazes me that someone thought that movie was actually a good idea.

I plan on reading this, as well as the rest in the series when I get a chance.

You are right about the US version. Pitt is supposedly linked to it, which would re-team him with Benjamin Button director David Fincher. A lot of big names are being tossed around for the leading woman role in this (Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart, Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan, Mia Wasikowska), but there are rumors they may look for an unknown for the role.

I'd love to see Natalie Portman get this role. She did a great job at such a young age in one of my all time favorites, The Professional. I see this as a similar type of character/role.
ROBIN HOOD??? Confused This isn't Robin Hood, but a Brian Helgeland screenplay attempting to pick up tickets by naming it Robin Hood!

don't read the following if you plan to see this movie

Arthur & Robin of Loxley are both killed at the beginning of the picture, Prince John rules England, Marion is not Arthur's ward, but the wife of Loxley, Russell Crowe plays Robin Longstride, who assumes the Identity of Robin of Loxley, and the insistence of Sir Walter Loxley. Little John, Will Scarlett, and Frair Tuck were in a maximum of 5 scenes, and the band of Sherwood Forest thieves were----children???

Bottom line:
A well made brutal Ridley Scott movie that should have been named something else, as it bears no resemblance to the story of Robin Hood. Acting & Direction were good, the story sophomoric! Frown
Watched 2012: Doomsday tonight. WOW, one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. I'm not sure how this got the exposure it did. Even if you extract out the unbelievable plot and underlying message everything else was just flat out terrible, the acting, camera and lighting, musical score, special effects, etc.

I'd rate it an 87. Smile

I'm not sure it was the worst I've ever seen, although it was interesting seeing Woody Harrelson playing himself.

Your comment got me thinking again about the movie. I could have swarn I recalled seeing a big name actor in the previews. After researching it, I see John Cusack is that person. This is NOT the movie I saw yesterday, but is the one that I recall being the big Hollywood release. Hmmm, same premise with the Mayan calendar. In this version a goofy golden Christian cross found in a Mexican archialogical dig had to be brought back to Chichen-Itza (that in itself is ridiculous)to save the world. This one is called 2012Big Grinoomsday, obviously not the same as 2012:End of Days.

Sorry, my bad. Was yours a straight-to-video release?
Taken- Politically, I oppose this movie in all aspects. Revenge, torture, glorifying violence, this movie is disgusting; it tugs at the heart strings even further by making a clearly 23 year old hottie out to be a 17 year old virgin... no new camera angles or thriller ideas, completely predictable, horrid in almost all ways... and TOTALLY entertaining for all 85 minutes.

Last House on the Left- Putrid.

Juliette Binoche...

Former15, I would also add that as I have watched Lena Olin age, she has done it very well.

Agreed. Also, I recall this as an excellent movie. I haven't seen it in maybe a decade, perhaps I will revisit...
