A Christmas Carol (2009)

FYI: This movie is fairly dark and not appropriate for young kids.

Be sure to stay for the end credits to listen to Bocelli sing. I got goosebumps. Cool

Did you enjoy the movie? Mrs Duckfaninmt and I are tentatively planning on seeing this weekend. (thanks for the tip on Bocelli's end credits singing... I'd definitely stick around for that!).

Absolutely. Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and others give great performances. The film is scored very well. And, the 3D, although not my favorite format, is fun.

Enjoy!

Cool I was enjoying Sacred Arias the other day.

Have either of you seen him in person?
Yes! My wife and I saw him when he came to St. Paul and performed at the Excel Energy Center; back in 2002 I believe. The acoustics at this venue fit in well with the orchestra and Bocelli's voice. Fantastic! Cool
2012, was a disaster movie that was well done, but you had plenty to forgive, or accept the Hollywood explanations. 155 minutes of one disaster following another. I enjoyed the movie, but as I said above, you had to have a lot of poetic license to enjoy this film. An entertaining film that doesn't require very much thought, just reaction.
I watched "Genocide" last night, a documentary about the Holocaust. This production was released in 1982 and won the "Oscar" for the best Documentary for that year!

The film was narrated by Orson Welles and Elizabeth Taylor, with comments by Simon Wiesenthal. This incredible documentary contained some of the most disturbing footage I had ever seen! Also, it mentioned the rejection by the United States and Cuba of ships full of refugees, that were returned to Germany and ultimately, those people ended up in the Nazi Death Camps. I believe this event happened in the late 1930's, and before the World truly realized the extent of Germany's Plan.

Everyone should view this Documentary, but be prepared, it's not like walking through the National Holocaust Museum.

Twilight Saga, New Moon----trash, made for 13/15 year old girls. Avoid it!

Latour, you should have known this, no? There were plenty of warnings in newspapers, on TV and the net. Were you the oldest person in the theatre? Big Grin

Steve8

You asked, should I have known it? We were going to see "Blind Side" but it was sold out and the only other movie starting at that time was "Twilight Saga"!

And as to your other question, the answer is---most likely, sad to say! Frown

Great cast - love the young sniveling Phillip Seymour Hoffman -

What ever happened to him anyway? Wink

I hear he is still acting, maybe starring in some travelling theatre groups or something

Just never seemed to be able to get over the hump I'm guessing.

Oh well.
