Ford vs Ferrari

The story, which I didn't really know, was interesting. Bale's performance was good as usual. Damon was Damon. Some good race scenes. Not bad.

You didn’t know the story?

Bale is such a versatile actor IMO. Actually, Damon played Shelby pretty well, but more low key than Shelby was in real life. Shelby went to the same high school as my parents and I met him 10-12 times. He was a true free spirit.🤣

I would give the film a C, but a film that played well at the IMAX theatre my son in laws and I went to the day it opened.

Ken Miles son Peter has had a nice career in racing ( not a driver) as a crew chief.

The Searchers

Not bad for a film starring John Wayne.

Oh Steve, John Wayne is in a number of very good films and he's in two John Ford masterpieces, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance  and The Searchers. In The Searchers Wayne plays against the heroic type he often played into a snarling anti-hero racist who goes on his tormented quest. The opening shot framing shot (which Sergio Leone developed further in his films) is bookended by the famous ending shot--Once upon a time in the West indeed. I am linking Roger Ebert's somewhat dated review that deals with issues of Ford, Wayne and the westerns' views of Native Americans. And as I've mentioned before I consider TMWSLV  to be the greatest western of them all.

I would never say Wayne wasn’t in a couple of good films, yet I would say I never thought Wayne was anything special in any film I ever watched, and often dreadful.
