You actually think this? Did you read the Spacey accusations? Do you think coming forward is easy?

I'd say most EVERYONE involved in this film knew about Spacey's reputation and behavior BEFORE this film was shot...it was an open secret in Hollywood...It didn't stop them from hiring him, did it?

Where did I say anything about Spacey's accusers/victims? Or defend his behavior? Or even imply anything?
FWIW: Spacey being gay wasn’t even an open secret. It just was... Spacey grabbing the butts (or worse) of every young male of “lower stature” than he that he came into contact with was not known ‘round these parts.

Based upon the stories I’ve heard, John Travolta is the person upon whom the shoe has not yet fallen. And maybe the rumors are incorrect. But relative to what I’ve heard, *that* would be an example of people looking the other way, if true. Those stories have been unavoidable in this town for some time.

It seemed to be an extension in what you were implying about a PR move. So let me just ask you this one simple question which you haven't answered:

Do you actually believe this?

I normally like Will Smith films,

Now I have never heard that before from anyone. Wink

Men in Black was epic!

It was OK, at least it had the Guggenheim in it and the MIB headquarters was also clearly based on another of Wright's works, the Johnson Wax building. However I'm going to say his best movie, or at least his best acting job, is in Six Degrees of Separation.

Yes, I believe it's possible. Companies do stuff all the time for PR moves and the bottom line, not for ethical or moral reasons. Just think about car companies that weigh costs vs settling lawsuits when they have a deadly defect (the list is long...most recently takata airbags).

The movie was DOA with Spacey in it...this way the filmmakers all get to look good in the public eye and get the film some free publicity.

I thought you were, or knew, people in the industry. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one. They knew they were going to have trouble marketing this film with an accused child molester and sex abuser in the cast (after all he wasn't running for president.) They had time to redo the scenes and did.

I leave the last word to you.

Hanna - Saoirse Ronan in what I presume was one of her earlier roles - showed her amazing talent.

I have to say while sort of pointless, it was an exhilarating and entertaining movie.

Amazingly, Ronan had eight movies--notably Atonement and the Lovely Bones--to her credit before Hanna. She's terrific.
The Post

Started rather slowly and not helped by the fact that I just finished watching Ken Burns The Vietnam War and so knew how it would go and end. That said, I enjoyed it, though perhaps too much time spent zooming in on Streep's and Hanks' faces to showcase their fine acting chops.

At the end of the film I couldn't help but note the link between Nixon's efforts to stifle the press and those of the current occupant of the White House, and how little seems to have changed in terms of Presidents respecting the basic pillars of democracy. I wonder if Nixon would have tried to destroy press freedom and the integrity of the courts the way the Orange Menace does (except for Fox News, of course!), if he'd had the tools then available to the latter today. Also wondering if You-Know-Who's shameless hubris will lead him to the same fate as did Nixon's shameless hubris......

This film is on my list. I think I’m going to catch the Churchill film first, though.
