I had the same experience. I think this is one of those instances where the book really doesn't translate to a movie. Of course, that's what a lot of people said about Lord of the Rings.

They were just wrong.

Great, under-rated movie!
Away We Go. Good film. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended.
Last night: Stop Making Sense: *** 1/2
Ooooo, didn't care for this one. Walked out 45 minutes in. Had lots of fans though.

Great, under-rated movie!
One of my all-time favorites!
Arthur- this movie has been on my mind; I really enjoyed Dudley Moore in this, and other movies.
Gran Torino
Enjoyed this.
Enjoyed this.
Breakfast at Tiffany's.
The Matrix Reloaded

A great movie and one of Mrs. Gigabit's favorites. John Gielgud was fantastic.
Clue. Mercifully, my wife fell asleep 1/2 hour in, so I could shut it off.

One of my favorites. Might need to break out the DVD soon.
Taken. OK. That's about it.

Rented this last evening, watching tonight.
Not expecting better than that, just want to see it.

GREAT movie. My #3 of his. (#1 - Rear Window, #2- To Catch a Theif)
Definitely agree with Rear Window, but I have to put The Birds up there too. Not because it was a "technically" great movie, but for the impact it had on me when I first saw it at some single digit age.

You are really starting to scare me.

I would add to the list, Vertigo, Notorious, Dial M for Murder and The Man Who Knew Too Much.
Recently:
Hancock
Quantum of Solace
On deck:
Gran Torino

Seven Pounds later tonight; could be the theme of the gluttonous weekend I've had.

Murder by Death was a much better murder mystery parody.
The Taking of Pelham 123 ... the 1974 version. Pretty good so far ... all-star cast.

The Lady Vanishes

And don't worry. While I think he's been horrible since moving to 11:30 (and Letterman has been borderline brilliant the past two weeks) I used to think Conan had some talent. So there is that.

"Moscow, Belgium"
Very pleasant. In Flemish with subtitles.

I'm confident I will prefer this to the current release, but we shall see.

Murder by Death was a much better murder mystery parody.
Though not parodies, I would put Death Trap and the original Sleuth in the Great Mystery catagory.
Saw both Pelham 123 and Hangover last weekend.
I thought that Pelham 123 was a good movie. Denzell Washington is always solid and Travolta plays a good psycho.
The Hangover is one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen. To me, it rivals American Pie 1 and Borat as the best I have seen in the last ten years. The writing is brilliant and the comedy is non-stop. Warning, it is definitely juvenile, male bonding humor.

I need to see The Hangover. There are so many movies out this summer I want to see on the big screen that I might have to wait for the DVD. But, I may succumb and just see it now, anyway.
Enjoyed Gran Torino very much......
