Gone Girl
What a mindf***.
Just watched Thor. I'm trying to keep up to date with my kids on all of these comic book superhero action movies.

Yeah, saw that coming.

Mad Max - Fury Road
Awful. Terrible. Horrific. Sucks.
Seriously, how did it get such a high rating? I don't even know where to begin...
98% on Rotten Tomatoes with 92% audience score, must be the Citizen Kane of post-apocalyptic movies. However I think your review is probably right on the money.
The only things that made this watchable (i.e., I didn't leave) were:
1) I went with friends and one was my ride home
2) Was a theatre with the new lounge seats that recline back quite a bit and are extra wide so you're not rubbing elbows with your neighbor
3) The theatre served beer
4) Did I mention I did not drive myself to the theatre?!
I thought Charlize Theron actually did a pretty good job in this film. But this is another one where you ask yourself . . . was anyone clamoring for a Mad Max redux?
Saw this yesterday. Visually, its very good. Everything else . . .

Rome, Open City
Playtime
Moonrise Kingdom - I enjoyed it but I like Wes Anderson movies generally
Still Alice
Well that was a happy movie. I had to listen to some Morrisey afterwards to cheer me up.

I'm hit-or-miss on him, but this is easily my favorite of his films -- I saw it the first day it was open in LA with knowing anything about it and I was just blown away.
The Other One - Doc on Bob Weir. Not bad.
The Conformist
Foxcatcher - I need to watch something happier after that one
First Mission Impossible
The Railway Man
Leviathan (2014)
The Campaign - I think it was worse than I thought it would be
Return of the Jedi with my daughters. Very fun re-living the first Star Wars film I remember seeing with them.

May I suggest another political movie instead? Robert Redford's second best movie, The Candidate.

The first was my last.

Spaceballs
John Wick
Duff: pretty funny, endearing flick about the travails of navigating high school life
Robot Revolution: don't ask me why I rented this one (boredom on a 6 hour flight I guess). This is quite literally the worst movie I have seen in 10 years. The acting in Sharknado puts this movie to shame
Results: decent film. I liked looking at Cobie Smulders for most of the movie
Interstellar: try #3 to get through this. I have not decided to break it into 3 parts and watch only while I am on the elliptical so I literally have nothing better to do than try to get through this

Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared
Fairly true to the very entertaining book by Jonas Jonasson (though the book is far superior). Think of a Swedish, morally ambiguous, Forest Gump without the great soundtrack but also missing the off-putting schmaltz.

Easily one of the greatest movies ever made.
The Mirror
Big Eyes.
Seventh Son.
Last Action Hero.
Weird, did not care for it.

The Last Waltz, with the sound turned up..

Can't help repeating myself:
quote:I've mentioned this disgusting factoid before: Did you ever notice Neil Young's cocaine booger that Scorsese attempted to remove by optically manipulating the film? Marty bragged that he successfully did it for "one of the musicians" but it was obvious on the big screen, and now high quality video, who it was.

Ah, a Fuller-fest. Richard Widmark at his best. Though there's always a place in my heart for the sainted Robert Alrich's Twilight's Last Gleaming

No wonder he was smiling so much and more animated than normal....I will have to go back and re-check the movie.
