Let's see, over the past few days, during my percocet bender

Catching Fire
Wolf of Wall Street
12 Years a Slave
Big
American Hustle
Drumline
Mannequin
Dark Knight Rises
Munich
Step Up 2: The Streets
Jobs

5 episodes of Game of Thrones
9 episodes of The Wire
8 episodes of Entourage
The final season of How I Met Your Mother
4 episodes of The Blacklist

Not one good movie? Eek
Hey at least you've started watching the best mini-series ever on TV.

You must not have realized that I listed Mannequin...

Nothing really good though, you're right. I've been drugged out, so it's just been a bunch of crap to watch between pills.

I did enjoy Catching Fire, but didn't care much for the others. 12 years... was just depressing. I am, however, a big fan of the Dark Knight trilogy, so I never tire of that one.

Which series are you referring to?

It was The Wire. One reason is for the "Fuck" episode which may be one of the greatest ever on TV. Second is for the bold move it pulls of on the second season (no spoilers here.) And lastly for the phenomenal ensemble cast--probably the best set of actors (and one female non-actor who has not shown up yet.)

Any "easy to watch" movie suggestions?
Off to work, but try Bad Day at Black Rock.

The "Fuck" scene was classic. I jotted it down to share in the future. Amazing.
Odd stuff:

Two turkeys:

Superman
Lone Ranger - of the two this was better viewing but it helps to read the paper, magazine or computer / cell phone while watching

Small stuff:

Primer - boring time travel
Today's Special - OK food Rom-Com of Eastern meets Western
Europa Report - semi boring Sci-Fi, which was timely as NASA just found water on one of Jupiter's moons

If I may, "swing from [your] nutsack like a groupie" I'd like to tell how I saw my first Malle. By 1968 I had begun exploring Fellini pictures when I saw he had contributed one of three stories of Poe adaptions for the movie Spirits of the Dead . Being a Poe fan too it seemed a good combo for me. Well the only place it played in my area was the Sunset Drive-in and being girlfriendless my buddy Eli and I went.

The first was by Roger Vadim and of little interest except of course it had Jane Fonda during her hottest years. The second was by a director I hadn't heard of, Louis Malle, but did have Bridget Bardot in it so I perked up (so to speak.) It was better than Vadim's, and the final film was by Fellini, whose surrealistic touch made it the best of the three. However the film is really only of academic interest and not really worth watching.

Though I've not seen the film you watched, whose name wonderfully is translated as Elevator to the Gallows, I was there when he first broke into "Hollywood" with the yucky Pretty Baby and the better, but not great, Atlantic City. His most famous film American film is of course, My Dinner With Andre which got good reviews, but I didn't particularity like. I wonder if it' watchable now.

Malle died young in his sixties and there's no question his best work, like the great Au Revoir Les Enfants, was done in France.

A bunch of chick flicks:

Austenland - with Keri Russell - if you've read Pride and Prejudice and liked it, you will enjoy this
If I Were You - Marcia Gay Harden - witty and well acted, especially the King Lear role by Harden
Decoy Bride - with Kelly Macdonald - lightweight fluff

Surely you are now out of the doghouse. Wink

Lol!
I think they said better than Avengers. I thought Avengers was cool but did not dig the first Captain America.

Did you see it and think it sucked?
