Zero Dark Thirty.

Impression?

I liked it. Great performance by Jessica Chastain. I'm also a fan of Chris Pratt and liked his role as one of the SEAL's.

For me Chastain's performance was the highlight of the movie. (And the best non-singing female performance of the year.)
We've been watching a diverse selection of films:

Total Recall - better than the Schwarzenegger version, but lacking substance. Lots of bullets, chases and explosions. Always funny to me to have such good looking people (Beckinsale, Biel, Farrell) in a bleak, dark and dystopian future.

Cache - in FR with sub-titles. Unsettling and creepy "family" film. Really, really good. Leaves lots of questions for the viewer.

Cabin in the Woods - brilliant horror film that adds to a tired genre.

The Bay - eco horror film similar to Contagion

Finally watched the American version of Man on the Train that Rob Sutherland brought to my attention. While I found Donald Sutherland excellent in this American remake, the movie should have never been remade imo.

The French movie, Man on the Train is in my all-time Top 100 films.

For some reason, thinking about Man on the Train ( French version) put me in the mood to watch Le Haine again.

+1. It would be nearly impossible to have bettered the original.

Watched:

"This is 40" at the behest of my wife. She admitted her mistake half way through. disappointing.

"Etre et Avoir" Stunning, poignant, slow, wonderful.
