Dolphin Tale - that's all United was offering on flight home today
Home sick today so watched a bunch of pay per view. Ides of March was really good, Hangover II was OK, The Eagle was pretty weak.

I thought it was broing and hokey with every little scary movie cliche. I was annoyed with myself for watching the whole thing.

I wouldn't disagree with that assessment. Some beautful scenery shots, but that's about all the value I could find.
I was expecting a lot more from James Cameron
Watched 2008 version of Journey to The Center of The Earth with my son.

Also in the Netflix queue behind Tree of life. Keeps getting bumped by other stuff for some reason.

Ah yes, Cameron. That's what made me decide to watch this movie! After watching it, I kept asking myself "why? what made you watch this again?"

In the Netflix queue for us.
I'm curious as to your thoughts...?
I'm a fan of Malick, and his work has a cadence and intonation that some can find tiresome and arduous. I do not fall into that group, but clearly understand his movies are not for the masses.
I think his movies often are like the style of art I enjoy/buy the most. They force your participation, and are often about the unsaid more than what is said. I'm pleased the movie was nominated ( best picture) as this style of a movie can be overlooked.
Long answer longer, I enjoyed the movie.

Nope...I have found that 40 - 55 are the best years, and without debate.

Not that I have a ton of experience, but I definitely feel I enjoy life more as each day passes. I'd agree with the phrase 'life begins at 40.'quote:Originally posted by wine+art:quote:Originally posted by NolanE:

A friend wants to go see the new Ghost Rider movie when it comes out, but I never saw the first one because it looked pretty weak. Anyone seen it? Good? Mindless fun? Not even that?

Not bad. Eva Mendes is some nice eye candy. And any chance to see Sam Elliot as a cowboy again is great.

Forgot he was in it - great point. I'll give it a chance.
Crumb, a 1994 documentary about underground cartoonist Robert Crumb. Highly recommended, along with American Splendor, another movie about a different cartoonist. I loved both movies, and was reminded by both that the other side of genius is madness.
A Clockwork Orange.
